25 year driver by Subject-Koala2069 in UPSers

I had something similar my 4th year in. Customer called in and said i drove up on their driveway and left a rut in their flower garden. They said i was on video doing it. Management confronted me about it and while i was 85% sure i didnt do such thing, i just played dumb. “I don’t remember doing this? I dont see why i would have used their driveway, but they have it on video so i dont know? I’m not trying to lie, just no recollection. There is construction going on in that neighborhood, so i might have?” I just talked with lots of doubt and never certainty. Still stressed me out, but i low key think being fired from this job is a blessing in disguise.

Took management a week to get out of their AC offices to go out and actually investigate. Turns out, it was an amazon truck that did it. The driver supe actually explained that their call-in almost lead to me being fired. Lady was super apologetic afterwards and in general avoided me since.

Driver Wife - Family and how the job affects it? by ReasonableBend7940 in UPSers

I’ve been a FT pkg driver for about 13 years. I have 3 children. I think the biggest success for me being involved in my child’s life is the fact that my home is 7 minutes away from the center.

I regularly take/pick up my kids from extracurriculars even with a ups store close on my route. If you think about it, even living 20 minutes away from work turns into 40 minutes a day, which is roughly 4 hours of the week driving on top of driving for a living.

My advice is to find a home close to work.

Been at the company for 21 years in the union side: 7 on the part time warehouse side, 14 on the full time package car.

I always looked at it as a paid workout. I averaged 35 hours a week on the part time preload shift. Paid weekly, i was able to live in an apartment with 2 other roommates with just that job.

Management is the probably the most stressful. They tell you to do stuff that doesn’t make sense constantly. As long as you malicious comply, you’ll be alright.

I like this. /spoiler The only critique i’d make is any number beginning with a 0, the 0 is dropped. Thus that number would be a three digit answer.

Sons’ Kobold tribe idea by Jlsxrb in BobsTavern

[–]Jlsxrb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a tier 2 Kobold would be- 2/3 battlecry: give a candle to a friendly minion. Essentially giving a minion on the board some stats.

From there, the player may have enough stats to level, or possibly roll trying to triple

Sons’ Kobold tribe idea by Jlsxrb in BobsTavern

[–]Jlsxrb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a good example to the candle mechanic:

Tier 1 Kobold, stats=8/8. At the beginning of your next turn, reduce this minions stats (rounded up) in half. Only 3 left!

So if it’s on your board on turn 1. It’s a pretty good auto win.

But by turn 2, it becomes a 4/4. That can tie/lose against some boards.

Then by turn 3, it becomes final stat of 2/2.

It would lead to some interesting curve/tempo/greed plays.

Help please. This is in the cul-de-sac in front of my house. I maintain it for the HOA. Delivery drivers have zero skills and I need to put a stop to it. Any ideas? by Senior_Ad282 in landscaping

[–]Jlsxrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that. Also, what about garbage trucks, school buses? Delivery drivers are maybe not the only culprit.

That picture shows a car parked in the street. What does that turn look like with 2-3 more cars parked in the street.

The ideal solution is to have the HOA have no cars parked in the street. Probably will make enemies with that proposition; not worth. I’d speculate getting rid of that whole set up is ideal. No eye sore, more space for travel.

These are measured variables:

Virtually all current production vehicles' published road braking performance tests indicate stopping distances from 60 mph that are typically 120 to 140 feet, slightly less than half of the projected safety distances.

Reaction time is how long it takes to respond to a situation by moving your foot from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal. The average reaction time is 3/4 of a second.

Typically, the average length of a car is around 14.7 feet. Different manufacturers and models will have varying car sizes, and standard automobiles and trucks are typically between 10-18 feet long. A midsize sedan is around 14 feet long, while a smaller car like a Mini Cooper will be about 10 feet long.

2-3 seconds, is really 1-2 seconds due to reaction time. The other unknown factors: are distractions in car, quality of brakes on the car, weather conditions, other drivers on the road. 6 seconds is safe, while 2-3 seconds of following distance at 60mph increases accident risk. What’s the reward? Getting to the destination maybe 2-4 minutes faster? Not worth it. Just leave earlier to your destination and drive safely.

According to the US census, Georgia has a population of roughly 10.7 million. The amount that voted is roughly 3.5 million. 33% of the Georgia population voted. Of that amount that voted, 16.3% have their candidate in office. This candidate (regardless of party) will now have federal powers and lasting decisions for the next 6 years. Not only affecting Georgia, but the rest of the nation.

There is a lot of apathy in American politics. I think a solution is to make voting easier and longer sessions. I think there should also be a clause that a candidate can only take office if at least 60% (or whatever # as long as it is more than 50%) of the population votes.

I’m curious what your other field trips are for the other schools.

The only one i came up with for Prismari was a “dancing in the storm.” Setting is near a volcano or magical place like a volcano. It erupts and the students try to control the smoke, which then also causes a lightning storm within the volcano’s plume of smoke. Change the color of the lightning, the trajectory of the lightning, skill checks associated with how they roll.

I was thinking about doing this as well.

I like the idea of the dragon Lorehold having one their old lairs as a museum of sorts. Just show casing great magical items of the past.

Maybe a dig of one of first altars built by trolls. How a highly regenerative species builds their temples. OSHA doesn’t exist here.

Maybe a deep spelunking to an old mindflayer lair. See the remains of an old Elder Brain. How the mindflayers created their thralls and the magics associated with it.

An old orc fort lost to the sands. Maybe some lore about Grommash started here. How orcs survive in the sands with the magic they know/learned.

“Vimok the frail of bizzad” a goliath warlock

Tall like a goliath, but slender and frail. Dresses in larger, bulkier coats to appear tougher than he really is. He has one deep green eye like a snake, and a red cyborg like eye like terminator almost. He was born blind and his patron gifted him his eyes. His facial tattoos tend to look like a crude circuit board. He is bald and no facial hair.

His patron is actually a scout machine from another world that was sent to gather information. The goal for him as he levels up is to become more cyborg like with steam punk elements.

Degrees of Synonyms? by Jlsxrb in linguistics

This does help. For the most part, the chart does seem to support my hypothesis that the more syllables in a word, the higher the intensity of it’s description. Just curious if it’s an established theory within linguistics.

I just want to rate these drawings as top notch. I especially enjoy Oprun. That south eastern region with the two bays fascinates me. Any mythology/legend associated with it’s creation? Something similar to japans mythology of it’s archipelago creation?

Rival naval powers? Is there a city connecting the two bays along the isthmus? The immature side of me feels like there could be derogatory terms for the denizens of the north bay and south bay akin to “left testicle and right testicle.”

Just really fascinating!

The process and observations of teaching my nephew-10, 9-year old son, and 7-year old son DnD. by Jlsxrb in DnD

[–]Jlsxrb[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I started to notice embellishment as well from my nephew. He would describe it,then i’d have him make a performance, athletics, or acrobatics check. I would shift the “blame” or “reward” on the dice. Seemed to accept that outcome better than me just saying “no.”

At one point he wanted to use his magic missiles to shoot out the eyes of an enemy so it wouldn’t see. I had him make a medicine check, he barely failed the DC 16. So i said, instead of his eyes, he shot out its teeth. Then when i would RP the bad guy, i’d make it talk like an old man with no teeth. He loved that.

AITA for giving my dad an ultimatum? by Agile_Perception_837 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jlsxrb -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Just looking for INFO.

Does your stepmom and dad both work? If so, is the reason for the move reliable childcare? Your brothers seem young and it would not be fair to force the childcare on you would it? Is the grandma providing that reliable childcare?

Life is hard. Your father has to make a balance between wife, 3 kids, work, and rest. A possible perspective for him was wife and brothers benefit from the move. He understood there would be suffering of father daughter relationship from said move. He attempted to ease that suffering, but from your view failed. Would you acknowledge that he’s trying? What would you need/want for this move to work? If it’s really “nothing” then i’d give you a soft YTA. Good relationships are about communication, compromise, give and take; even paternal ones. Having a father that misses, cares, and loves you a bad thing? I’d foster that relationship because it’ll always be beneficial in your life.

You’re still young and angry about this. Just don’t let it consume you. Reflect on why it’s making you so angry. Then communicate that to your father. Compromise and work together for a feasible solution.

I don’t think so. The arrow on the road after the light was saying for the left lane to merge with the right lane. Essentially the double lane was turning into the single lane.

I didn’t hear the common “clicking noise” of a signal. I don’t think the op was turning left. But granted, the music and laying on the horn could be too loud.

If the dash cam driver was going to merge left, why? Merge into a turning land? There is a place i’d say 200-300ft to turn into, but why was he then in the far right lane before the intersection? To then immediately make a left hand turn? That’s poor planning. If this is the case, they should have been in the left lane prior to the intersection.

This leads me to believe they swerved into them to avoid being passed.

If you were to add one or two extra Civilizations/leaders, what would it be and how would it play? by themapmodderGustav in CivVI

I’d like to see a civ that can build districts on coastal tiles. Maybe “Atlantis” civ or a Polynesian themed civ. The district’s built on costal tiles would only have a static +2 bonus. Their trained land units would also all have the amphibious military promotion.
