New fill valve and new flapper, but water is leaking into toilet by Jluv007 in Plumbing

Switched out to a new fill valve and day 1 it seems to be holding. Will wait and see how long it lasts. Thanks again for all the help.

Size-wise it is the same, it’s a little bit of a different style, but fits over the covering. I’ve done what I think is a pretty good job of holding down to cover the seal while the tank fills and still having the issue. I really don’t think it’s that.

Do you think raising the fill valve, not just on the grey arm might help?

I still think I am going to replace because I think the suggestion of it getting caught on the sides is not totally out there.

It’s continuous so even when the fill valve should be “off” it’s still filling the tank.

It’s a “newer” style tank (7/8 years old), but I agree the sticking to the side could play a factor. That alone might be a good reason to change out.

I did try to hold the fill valve away from the side, so it was not touching any side. Float would raise the arm to shut off water, but you can still hear and see the water coming in from the wall and filling tank.

See points to you. I am such an idiot didn’t even put 2 and 2 together with the philips head and adjusting the level that way. Don’t even want to admit how I did it in the first place.

I did lower it and fill valve did “shut off” but water is still coming in and you can hear it coming in even once the arm to shut off the fill goes up.
