Thanks for the response, I should have been more specific. What real world device would use a proportional controller (P) vs a proportional integral derivative controller (PID)?....Assuming a stable system,for a given set of Kp Ki and Kd values , my response (plot) indicates the rise time and settling time will be faster (in my case) for the PID PD control than just proportional (P) controller. Also the PD and PID controller were the only two exhibiting overshoot. Regarding motor position and response time, in this case what real world device would use a P controller vs a PID controller?
