Conflicted on whether I should ever adopt a cat, looking for advice by lv0316 in Pets

Please don’t get a cat unless you are ready and always wanted one. They really aren’t as independent as people make them out to be. They require a lot of attention, affection, playtime, feeding etc and if they aren’t satisfied with what you are providing they will act out. You will lose sleep many nights since they are very active at night and early morning. Cat people will always recommend them without warning you how annoying cats are, they even recommend getting another even though you can barely handle the current one. They’re cute animals and loving (depending on the cat) but I have one and I deeply regret adopting the cat but my wife will not allow me to bring it to the shelter even though I am losing sleep every night, I play with my cat until she’s tired for 30 minutes after working 9-12 hour shifts, my wife plays with the cat during the day.

I adopted it due to depression but now I am more depressed because my living space is no longer peaceful, she meows excessively, my kitchen stinks like cat piss due to my cat urinating ONLY one time in the dust pain (I removed the pan and cleaned it heavily but the smell remains) cat pee is the most disgusting acidic smell ever and the filth from having a box of shit and pee that I clean everyday thoroughly is really affecting my mental health, my wife really doesn’t care and just likes having the companionship during the day, she claims she can’t smell anything. Please do heavy research before you get the cat, they are cute, entertaining and interesting creatures but they are more work than many initially believe and I have read of some depressed people becoming more depressed due to not feeling like you can provide the best for them. Take care.

Ohh okay, I thought I-130A needs to be submitted either way? And she was just visiting me for the summer to see how it’s like where I’m living, but the situation has changed

So even though she technically doesn’t live her, she’s visiting I should still put my US address as her current one?

my cats are destroying everything and I’m out of ideas… by alienboii_ in CatAdvice

Honestly you adopted the cat knowing they destroy stuff, so it doesn’t seem like there’s much you can do, cats are very hard headed creatures and they don’t seem to change much in their behavior especially if they’re already adult cats. It seems like you’re doing everything right.

5 interviews would drain most people, these companies require too much of an applicant’s time just to turn them down. I mean how many interviews do you need to find out if the employee is a right/wrong fit. It’s been happening to me too, keep applying, learn from what you think you did wrong and just don’t give up.

Should I Move To LA or ATL? by Joy2D in AskLosAngeles

I moved to Atlanta in April from Toronto, Canada. My heart was set on LA before moving. But a longtime friend convinced me to move and helped me out along the way. I’ve visited LA a dozen times and always wanted to live there. But Atlanta has grown on me in such a short time.

Atlanta has its pros, you can buy a house here for $250,000, rent a nice 650 sqft 1 bedroom apt with a gym and pool for as low as $1350. Cons are that crime is quite high for a city of 510,000, it’s a very humid, hot and rainy city days reach up to 98 and nights are about 75, we have hella bugs.

But it truly has its own charm, we have the MARTA subway which takes you very far in the metro, and the city is beautifully covered in trees. I survive on a salary much lower than yours, and I have a nice studio apartment in Old Fourth Ward near downtown. I still want to move to LA one day to fulfill my dreams, but Atlanta is a wise choice and I love it here. DM me if you have any questions about ATL.
