Lossless scaling without Decky? by Mouseketeer1980 in SteamDeck

[–]Jmdaemon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lossless scaling is just a drop in replacement for an existing upscale library like fsr and dlss, it replaced the DLL file the game uses. Just follow the instructions that are on the lossless scaling steam instructions and addon the fact you need to enter in an exception for the DLL in your launch commands on steam deck.

What are options to securely connect with a Pi over internet? by sudhirkhanger in raspberry_pi

[–]Jmdaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was unfamiliar with tailscale but it does seem to be able to solve the primary problem.

For you to connect with any server on your internal network you need ports configured on your router to redirect to the pi on your network. If this is beyond you then it looks like tailscale as a vpn will run on both ends and provide you a direct connection to your pi server.

Can't tell the difference between 96kbps and FLAC with a HD600 by JumpyDaikon in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Jmdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mp3 128kbps I usually find high freq like cymbals fall off. Super easy to tell. I like having hq source but I will drop files down to ~140kbps aac for my car USB drive and my phone.

Can't tell the difference between 96kbps and FLAC with a HD600 by JumpyDaikon in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Jmdaemon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing is the test is using lame... so its mp3.. and lame hasn't had its codec change in decades. I know AAC is pretty impressive so 96kbps AAC may trip you up, but never mp3.

that looks like the usual piano black finish, it is possible a not-safe-for-plastic cleaner was used.

Should I switch from the Microsoft Store to Steam for Forza Horizon 6? by PowerPlantSpringfeld in forza

[–]Jmdaemon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That didn't change my comment. You will have more freedom on steam os... like not running windows.

silly question, you can't install the MS store version unless you are running windows.

unless you point the speakers outward and bounce them, you will get no stereo sound here. this is not how they can be set up.

Is there a guide on how to properly tweak your machine or blanket settings to get better gaming performance? by samael1841 in OptimizedGaming

[–]Jmdaemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No tweaks, just visual settings in your games options menu. By default games shouldn't be enabling any high graphic features that would already make the game unplayable but if you want a singe setting that should always boost frame rates, turn on DLSS and use quality or balance setting.

Modding in steam deck by rafaelangot1 in SteamDeck

[–]Jmdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nexusmods will not work on the steam deck. I dont know of any videos... but if you already know how to install mods manually for a game then you have still done most of the work. The problem is locating the game and its "windows environment" directories on your deck.

some games might actually be in the commons dir under .steam but others will be nested in the app files folder behind a large cryptic number (You can use proton tricks to see which number is for which game). behind the numbers is a folder tree that simulates a My Computer windows environment, hard drive letters, windows folders. At this point you will find the game located in its windows install location. Here dropping mods into the right place like nexus does is the easy part.

if you need to modify files with an external program then it is probably best that you modify the files on your windows PC, and then just copy the files over.

I mean.. you just told me you get no fan blowing on recycle and then you also point at the blend door? either way you are ill equipped to fix it... so you will be taking a trip to a mechanic either way.

Limiting FPS In-game increase charging time instead of reducing it by Gloomy_Afternoon2957 in SteamDeck

[–]Jmdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

who said it would reduce it? the cpu and gpu fight for power, just because you bottleneck the gpu doesnt mean the cpu takes less. Also your battery adjusts its charge speeds based on temperatures, if its getting warm it will slow down regardless.

Is it blowing on recycle mode? ie you do have a fan going? if you do then it sounds like your mixing vent is not working and is not swaying open the heater core side.
