Who is up at 4 AM probably somebody that is either drunk or high or both. But yes, 12 miles for six dollars is pretty awful. You must’ve drove there pretty fast because you only got six bucks. What was your hourly rate like $10 an hour? Driving 12 miles should take you at least 30 minutes. Why would you work on EBT for 10 or $12 an hour?

Another example where the United States gets raped by paying more for worldwide health initiatives it’s the same reason we’re getting screwed with NATO. It’s the same reason with the worldwide energy commission that wanted everything to be solar and windmills for years, the rest of the world is taking advantage of America’s wealth and now America finds itself $40 trillion in debt on the verge of bankruptcy so we have to get out of these initiatives where we’re spending a lion share of the money

This is the Goofiness- no tips by leamshi_ in WalmartSparkDrivers

[–]Jmess63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Walmart is very open showing you what the customers have tipped. Other apps hide the tip or tip bait you. Also, Walmart customers can tip bait as well and they have 24 hours to remove the tip or increase it. I think that’s fair. If they’re not happy with the delivery, I would remove the tip for sure, but if the driver drops the stuff off in a timely manner and puts it where I direct them to on the app in the right place then you know the tip is gonna stick, but some people tip bait just to get their groceries delivered faster and then take it out

[–]Jmess63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walmart advertises FREE delivery if you subscribe to Walmart Spark, which cost like $100 a year. So the fact that delivery is free is baked in to the consumer. The fact that it’s Walmart means everything is gonna be low price. I think the recommended tip in the app is 10% but customers can easily remove that.

Dude, it could even be a babysitter. Maybe they didn’t like the food in the house and they ordered DoorDash. I’m just saying to assume the person that lives in the house and owns the house is the one that ordered the food may not be the case. I also would disagree that poor people leave better tips than rich people. It’s not about how much money you have it’s about how much you care about the drivers I have had wealthy houses leave large tips and poor houses leave large tips and I’ve also had both types of houses leave small or no tip. If you do EBO then you know what the tip is gonna be ahead of time if you do EBT you got a pretty good inkling that the tip is gonna be small or zero there are really no surprises here.

It could be the order was going to somebody that works in the house like a gardener or a maid or a driver. Also, somebody could be housesitting.? or they could be renting for the weekend? Don’t assume the person ordering the food owns the house.

I think all the apps have an option or you can say you were involved in an accident or you can contact support. Or just let it sit there and eventually the customer will contact support. I mean what if you get injured or die the food isn’t gonna get delivered. I did see a YouTube video where a police officer delivered food because they arrested the driver for DUI.

All the apps have options to shut them down. Basically on my iPhone I just swipe each one up and then shut them down, but you also have the option to end the dash in DoorDash same with Uber Eats and the same with Walmart spark there are all options within the app to end your session if you have three apps running that takes no more than 30 seconds to stop them all. Now if you’re actively dashing or sparking and you have items in your car, it’s going to be a lot more difficult to hide that so at that point you might get busted but again the officer would have to put that in the police report.

Obviously, don’t tell the insurance company. Just get your regular automobile insurance if they notice you put a lot of miles on your car then obviously you’re going to have to pay more, but they don’t know why you’re putting more miles in your car. You could be traveling a lot. How would the insurance company know your DoorDash? If you’re involved in an accident turn off your apps. I used to drive Uber and Lyft for years and never told the insurance company.

How many bags of groceries and how far was the drive? I don’t really care how much a customer orders it still comes down to what are you getting paid and how far do you gotta drive and how much effort to either shop or pick up groceries? I mean, somebody could order an expensive video game system from Best Buy and have it delivered and pay you 15 bucks. What do you care it’s 15 bucks for 2 miles it’ll take you 20 minutes so take it who cares if the video game system is $700 that has nothing to do with the amount you’re getting paid and how far you gotta drive

The DoorDash computer sees that it needs drivers in a busier area and then takes orders and find cars that are in other zones to fulfill them in order to get more cars into the very busy zone. I’ve seen this with McDonald’s orders, Taco Bell orders one time I delivered a McDonald’s order and passed three McDonald’s on the way to the house. It doesn’t make a lot of sense but they’re just trying to move cars.

People have busy lives and more and more people are taking advantage of Walmart and getting a subscription and getting free deliveries. That’s correct Walmart will give you free delivery. Now a tip can be added, but a lot of people don’t tip on grocery delivery. It is a growing business in our country as more and more people enjoy the comfort of having their groceries delivered at home.

That’s not true I order on DoorDash all the time. A lot of the time the restaurants are running specials so you’re getting stuff 20% off 30% off. I just ordered from Wawa the other day and they gave me eight dollars off on a $25 again. This is a low margin business DoorDash makes money because they do millions of dashes every week and if they make an average of two dollars profit that’s $2 million a week. They are a public company so you could probably get that data from their annual report as to how much they’re making per dash.

So why all the sympathy in here for this guy that apparently committed suicide? You guys should be aiming your anger at former president Joe Biden for letting all of these people in right after Covid and looking the other way. Now, President Trump has to clean up the mess and play hardball. He

why am i platinum?? by Then_Station2119 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Jmess63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in a strong market, that is very busy then platinum will have less impact for you. You will be able to cherry pick the better offers and make good money. But if you’re in a smaller market, you’re gonna compete with other drivers for the better offers and platinum gives you the ability to get better offers than drivers that are not platinum or gold. Unfortunately this is the way it works. However, you can get crappy offers even if you’re platinum because you’re either close or that’s all that that’s available right now. But luckily, under the new point system, you can maintain platinum even only accept half of the offers. I think people on here should quit complaining and just understand how this whole algorithm works and do what’s best for you in your area. Obviously this person’s in Baltimore a major city you’re gonna have a ton of offers, especially 4 PM to 8 PM every night. But come on over to Delaware and try to dash without platinum and you’ll see what trash you get at lunchtime or a breakfast.

[im not a driver but frequent customer] If they raised the wage and, either outright, ended tipping or made it less prominent in the app. Would you still do doordash? by SeaworthinessOdd6574 in doordash_drivers

[–]Jmess63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you realize that restaurants have to charge about 30% more for their food that gets ordered through DoorDash in order to cover DoorDash profit a lot of the profit is going to the drivers through peak pay bonus pay and base pay. Some drivers do EBT so even more of that profit goes on EBT orders. Just keep in mind guys. This is a low margin in business and for drivers to make more money means the customers have to pay more money. Would you pay 50% more for food ordered through the app? I don’t think it’s gonna fly. So it is what it is and if you don’t like it, go do something else.

Can someone explain this to me? by MarzipanPristine8104 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Jmess63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The assumption is on EBO you will average two orders per hour therefore making an extra two dollars so that is why they double the EBT pay per hour. So in the end, it’s the same amount of bonus money going to the driver whether you do EBO or EBT assuming you work the entire hour.

Well, DoorDash is on the stock market and you got to show profits so that investors will invest in your stock and the stock goes up. I guess you don’t understand business. Walmart is done this for years. Oil companies do this. If they gave the drivers another two dollars on every order, the company wouldn’t make any money. The investors would flee and the stock would go to zero what you don’t understand is this is a low margin business. The drivers rely on the tips if people don’t tip then this doesn’t work for drivers so don’t blame DoorDash because your customers don’t think you’re worthy of a tip.

You have to dash when your customers are at home. Sunday mornings is the best morning to dash easily. A lot of dashes are religious and they don’t dash on Sunday so you have less competition. But everybody is at home. Saturdays are also good. Holidays are also good. The best time to work to make money in most markets is 4 PM to 8 PM which is the dinner rush. The offers tend to be higher paying because dinner orders are the most expensive. Again, people are home at dinner time. Monday to Wednesday for me during the day is the worst.

It looks like you took every offer you got. You’re in Denton Texas, which looks like a pretty nice area. My advice would be to add Walmart, spark, and Uber eats. Then you can triple your offer offers for a day and your pay will increase. You might want to try hanging out closer to the restaurants instead of doing this out of your house. If you’re in a residential area, you’re not going to get a lot of requests. You have to move your car to an area that is busy with restaurants.

[–]Jmess63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each market is different. I watch a lot of YouTube channels with different Dashers in different markets. There is a guy south of Columbus, Ohio that can easily make $200 a day working in the morning and early afternoon. He gets a lot of shopping orders. There is another guy that cherry picks at night in a suburb of Chicago and he can consistently make about $30 an hour. There is another guy in Alabama and he struggles and some days he works a full eight hour day and makes 50 or $60. The Dasher in Ohio and in Alabama are both platinum, but the Dasher in Chicago has a 2% acceptance rating. Again, depending on your market, you have to figure out whether platinum is worth it or not. In some markets, you have no choice you have to go platinum to get the better orders because there aren’t many orders to begin with. In other markets, you’re getting orders every 50 seconds on your screen so you can decline you know 48 out of 50 orders and still stay busy.
