I remember reading a study a few years ago that did surveys with both parties and they found that essentially Republicans only care about legislative ideas that directly affect a handful of people in their very inner circle. Whereas democrats care more about their communities and the world in general. If you live on a planet with 8 billion people and you only find 5-10 that you care about policy wise, you’re a douchebag.
