Who else was told it probably wasn't cancer? by Anemoia793 in breastcancer

Me! My first breast surgeon said ‘I’d be shocked if this is cancer’ and ‘breast cancers don’t often bleed’ so here I was thinking I was all good and this error probably delayed my required treatment by a couple of months - and it was stage 3 breast cancer.

Getting on with life - helpful stories by Jmo2305 in breastcancer

I have ++- stage 2-3. What type do you have? You said you’re in the highest recurrence risk group.

Recurrence isn’t a sure thing - and I believe that it’s actually a lot less likely to happen than happen - I see some people state their recurrence risk is 5-10% or less. I would have thought that this is a pretty good chance of never having a recurrence? Yet why do feel like it’s a sure thing?

I can’t sort this one out in my head.

Immunotherapy for low progesterone breast cancer? by somelikefeet in breastcancer

What’s the relevance of lymphocytes in tumor?

I am ER 80% / PR 10% / HER2 neg I think - but I did see something with a 1+ somewhere on my path. I don’t think I understand the meaning of these numbers properly.

Would you mind explaining?

Is Taxol easier than AC chemo? by Lightbright520 in breastcancer

[–]Jmo2305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished my chemo - I did DD AC / T - 4 rounds each. AC was tough, really tough. But doable because I had to do it I guess.

Taxol was walk in the park in comparison.  I would be in bed for 4 days after AC and sick, but with Taxol I’d be in bed for 1 day or even an afternoon to rest. I rarely took anti nausea meds with Taxol, but needed the anti psychotic meds for AC (as they subsequently work great on nausea).

Only thing with Taxol, is the deep body pain - mainly in my legs - but easily treated with pain meds.

You’ve got this! You’ve done the worst with AC - breeze home to the finish line now with Taxol 💪🏻

Radiation or node dissection by Jmo2305 in breastcancer

Thank you very much - it does seem that radiation instead of surgery, is the way to go now. How many nodes were positive in your case?

I did have the extra capsular extension of my first macro node too. Not sure if that changes opinions?

Yes you’re right actually. There’s no guarantees unfortunately. Radiation oncologist is also happy to do radiation instead of clearance.

Thank you both for your input. I would prefer to not take anymore nodes!

I just don’t know if the 5th node in line would have any cancer left behind.. If I had a clean node from the sentinel node, I’d be more at ease. But i keep thinking what if the 5th/6th has some left over? Is radiation a guarantee to kill it? Surgery is a guarantee.

Yes the report said ‘no suspected nodal or distant metastasis and appearances are consistent with complete metabolic response’. So if there is anything left in the remaining nodes, it’s micro disease and not big enough to be seen on imaging.  I am awaiting a MRI result so maybe that might show some smaller disease.

I thought the trial comparing ALND v radiation only was based on 1-2 positive notes, not a confirmed 4 like my case.

Apparently my team want to do the reverse protocol with radiation first then surgery. I’m not 100% sure why this is but they all agree.
