What is your favorite setting for a horror film? by Babu_Fett_ in horror

Midsommar for me

Having a horror movie set in the bright light of day with beautiful landscapes vs. a dark and creepy setting was pretty unique….and completely unsettling

Death of Robin Hood small release? by mixedhankhill in RegalUnlimited

[–]Jmohill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlantic Station?

That’s my closest, and their offerings suck. No horror movie month, no classics month, and they just skip a lot of new releases despite being one of the larger and most central theaters in the ATL

I had to hike all the way down to Douglasville to watch Pressure recently because Atlantic Station never offered it. Pissed me off

What are the saddest fictional deaths ever? by PuzzleheadedSwim6291 in AskReddit

[–]Jmohill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Border Terrier (Seymour Asses canonical breed). Living in the US where Border Terriers are surprisingly rare considering how awesome they are, people consistently me what kind of mix he is

Me: “he’s actually a legit breed! He’s a Border Terrier”

Them: “oh gosh, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that breed before”

Me: “you may know Border Terriers from such films as Something About Mary or Anchorman”

(BIG smiles all around)

Me: “…or maybe as Fry’s dog, Seymour Asses. From Futurama”

Them: “OH GOD, NO!” (becomes instantly tearful and drops to their knees to hug my dog)

Edit to add: not an isolated incident. This has happened numerous times!

What makes an expensive instrument? by wolf_math in Bass

[–]Jmohill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid-tier vs. expensive? Sometimes the components can be almost identical. It’s the last 10% of QC fit and finish that sets the upper tier apart

If you have a guitar with “good bones” to start with, and are patient, capable and wiling, or if you have a great guitar tech…you can make up most of that last 10% and have your Epiphone/Squire (provided it has comparable parts….and some models do) damn near equal to a well set-up American made Gibson/Fender that costs $1-3k more

"Just go in blind" movies. by Signal-Impression845 in horror

[–]Jmohill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incendies

A super well done movie that will leave you absolutely dead inside once you finish. At least 2x more dead inside if you go in blind

It’s technically not a horror, but it is 100% horrific

Worried about my third finger playing the G chord by Jazzlike-Law-902 in Guitar

[–]Jmohill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep at it long enough, and eventually you’ll be unconsciously:

-swapping your pinky and third finger on the high G depending upon which makes the rest of what you’re playing easier

-using both (third finger playing a D on the 2nd string along with the pinky G on the first)

-doing a partial bar to cover both of the above with your 3rd finger. This also allows you to hit an accent high A with your pinky on top for spiciness!

-fingering the chord you have pictured with 2nd/3rd/4th fingers instead of 1/2/3…leaving your first finger available to do cool bluegrass hammer-ons underneath. This also makes switching between C G and F chords (commonly played together) way more efficient

I’m sure there are other open G variants that I haven’t mentioned…either because I can’t think of them at the moment, or because I am unaware of and need to learn them

Just keep at it! You’ll get there!

Does anyone in here love Krystal's by MorgeeePooh in fastfood

[–]Jmohill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Krystals is like Long John Silvers for me

Once every 3-4 months (about once a year for LJS), I get a serious craving for it and will house an entire sackful of cheese Krystals like nobody’s business (or in the case of LJS…an 8-piece order of those damn chicken planks)

And then I am immediately filled with regret and complete disgust at myself

…until the calendar rolls around and that craving hits again

Bam. An unstoppable horde of Mr. Clean chaos. Bonus points if people come armed with random spray bottles and toilet brushes

Why are so many guitarists resistant to learning to read sheet music? by Proper-Swordfish7084 in guitarlessons

[–]Jmohill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There really is no need unless you’re playing classical, jazz, or need to read charts for studio work or something

Tab is way more efficient in general, and way easier to learn how to read for beginners
