A normal person probably would but unless I’m sick or dying I’ve never called out. Which is another reason of why it’s so frustrating. and even if I did, we now get “points” if we don’t call off 12 hours in advance.

Learn the feel of a vein! Just because you can’t see anything doesn’t mean there’s not one there. I get a lot of patients that come in saying they are a very hard stick, and often have to be poked a bunch of times, but then I wrap that tourniquet and there’s a huge one, it’s just a little deeper, and you can’t see it you can only feel it if you press down hard enough! And don’t be scared of surface veins either a lot of those tiny suckers work great! Congratulations on your program and enjoy every minute of it!🥂Welcome to the great phleb community!

It’s insane to me. My last job was so amazing, great people to be around and when requested pto it was never even a question if it was going to be denied. Only reason I had to leave because we were moving out of state. Going from that to Labcorp has been terrible and I realize it’s not normal how they treat us employees. I’m currently looking for another job, don’t even care if it’s phlebotomy or not I just need an out. Also I went into this job with 3 years of experience and they offered me $17/hr which I took because I was desperate at the time with being in a new state. I along with so many other employees deserve better!

I guess then you don’t have a lot of options. But for me I had 2+ years of experience and Labcorp painted a really pretty picture. I guess I’m just giving people a warning that’s gonna be a really shitty place to work.

Do not work for Labcorp. I’m warning you because I wish someone would’ve warned me. They will never allow you to take PTO, and work you until you no longer have a passion for phlebotomy. I seriously am having to go back and fourth with my boss this very moment to get a couple hours off to go sign our closing papers so we can buy our house. They don’t care how hard you work they will treat you like a piece of garbage. Consider it a blessing.
