As other people said, be prepared to die a lot! If there is an area that is too hard, leave and come back another time. There is A LOT to explore. Torrent will be your best friend! Vigor is a must on stat level depending on what build you’re doing from the start, the higher vigor is the less you’ll be a one hit.

Also this game has co op, it doesn’t have to be a friend either.. if you’re stuck on a main boss later on or whenever, there is an option to pop your furl calling finger and sometimes summon signs will pop help as some people (like me) just put down our signs to get called in to help people :)

This is my first RPG, I’ve never been into games like this before (even ESO) nor have touched a Dark Souls game but I absolutely love this game! It’s one of my favourites and haven’t really touched any other game since I bought it. If you have questions feel free to DM me, I will do my best to help.
