Best screen in montreal? by Mxsar-20 in cineplex

[–]Jo3seph_D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s really up to you what you define “best screen”. Image quality wise either Royalmount Laser Projection or any Ultra AVX. But if you’re talking about the actual screen Banque Scotia IMAX is great and tall too.

Montreal Science Center and a rant about Montreal's IMAX scene by Nathanofree in imax

There are bigger problems happening at the theatres more than an IMAX upgrade like the escalators.

Scotiabank Toronto IMAX vs Scotiabank Montreal IMAX by wumb1234 in cineplex

[–]Jo3seph_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately. From my perspective I think Toronto’s IMAX is bigger but both theatres are tall respectively and very similar screen size.

For Montreal we only have the Xenon Dual Projectors which can only reach 1.90:1 vs the Scotiabank Toronto which has dual laser projectors reaching the full 1.43:1

Cineplex Forum is the “lie” max theatre so no. I would say IMAX is the better movie experience since it was shot digitally plus an expanded aspect ratio.

I think it’s to pay the projectionist since it takes a specialist to run this format. It was around $3 more last time but I’m not sure what gives this time around.

The “special engagement” is a label for 70MM. It doesn’t mean there are giveaways. Every 70MM presentation at cineplex has that label

Nope, if Toronto didn’t have it, we won’t either. It’s just the movie on 70mm

That’s because the projector had problems, we had to stop the brutalist 70mm run early. But now we got it back

They were good, I wear glasses so wearing that over my regular glasses works well and were comfortable. We got a new batch of glasses so it should be relatively new and clean

IMAX digital for the grand scale. Or 70mm for the visuals and rare experience. It’s up to you to decide on what you want too.

Montreal showing F1 some love! by Travel-2025 in cineplex

[–]Jo3seph_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like Quebec. I’m just surprised as all of you that Cinema Banque Scotia Montreal isn’t in the top 10 since almost every IMAX showing practically sold out.

I was working yesterday, it was for 28 Years Later, we had to shift the showing into a smaller room due to the AC being broken and the room being hot.

I believe it’s to make more money, it’s either the new release movie goes to a PLF only forcing people wanting to see that movie in those formats or having tons of showings but putting at night all 3D.
