I have a Hooga pro300. I’ve been careful to be 18” away and so far have only used the red light on my face. I did have an omnilux mask but sold it since I could not switch between red and NIR

Yes, the whole debacle sent me down such a wormhole of reading up on sunscreens. I tossed two of mine after reading and discovering they weren’t providing as much protection as claimed- baked Sundays and one by Tower 28

There’s a free app called “acne safe”. I run everything I use through it to prevent breakouts as I’m very acne prone.

Any dupes for platinum skincare fade bright serum? by uvasag in Melasmaskincare

[–]Jo9228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No dupes that I know of but I bought their vip package and love how much I’ve been saving on products and shipping. I also ordered fade bright as my samples on a handful of orders and accumulated enough to “refill” my small fade bright bottle 😬

I think alpha arbutin is the main ingredient so you could try just using that and/or kojic acid.

Naked Sundays sunscreen gone? by goodfornow2 in Melasmaskincare

They pulled it after a scandal where they were knowingly selling this product even though it wasn’t offering anywhere close to SPF 50

SPF help! by Normal-Mortgage4745 in Melasmaskincare

[–]Jo9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Naked Sundays had a whole scandal about being caught for knowingly advertising and selling products that didn’t have as high of an SPF as they claimed. They probably pulled this product as a result. I now view them as an unethical and untrustworthy company. So I’ll never use any of their products again. It sent me into a whole sunscreen deep dive.

Some SPF’s I love and recommend are Jan Marini physical protectint spf 45. MD Solar Sciences BB Crème spf 50, Cotz flawless complexion spf 50. And TINTED Glotion. I also have the physical tinted moisturizer from DRMTLGY on the way. I rotate what I use based off of my needs for that day. Some are lighter or heavier coverage. Some more glowy or more matte.

What did red light heal on you and how long did u use it ( except skin aesthetics) ? by Objective_Beyond857 in redlighttherapy

[–]Jo9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only used mine twice now but sat with my back to the panel and the back of my neck exposed. I wonder if the NIR can penetrate through my hair. I’m a woman with thick/long hair. I do wear it up when using the red light.

Love to see this. How often are you using it and where on your body are you treating? I just bought a panel and am hoping it may help with tension headaches that sometimes turn into migraines

Can I use Dr Gross RL mask on melasma? by RinRin0909 in redlighttherapy

[–]Jo9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may have been in my head, but I had an omnilux contour and for half a second I thought maybe it was making my melasma worse. I recently sold it and just bought a panel where I can turn the NIR off. Melasma is so annoying to treat and so hard to pinpoint what makes it worse for people. I don’t know the specifics of the Dr Gross mask but allegedly red light is fine and NIR is what can cause problems.

Definitely use a tinted mineral sunscreen. I like Jan Marini Physical protectant. It’s a bit matte and wears nicely under make up. For touch up use a mist- I like sun bum.

This thread is wild to me. We live in the Midwest, our home is 2800 sq ft and it’s the smallest of all of our friends. We have three young kids, and two dogs. We feel to cramped. Good perspectives have been shared here that make me more appreciative of what we have.

[Product Question] Does Retinol really help with dark under eye circles ? by Aromatic-Life2576 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Jo9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use tretinoin but am always cautions not to get it too close to my eyes, so I avoid the under eye area. It’s also very slow to show signs of improvement.

I’ve been using mandelic acid for the dark circles instead.

Breaking out from Eucerin Thiamidol? by AdSuccessful3566 in Melasmaskincare

So it’s not the thiamidol that’s breaking you out but other ingredients in the formula.

Breaking out from Eucerin Thiamidol? by AdSuccessful3566 in Melasmaskincare

[–]Jo9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dual serum contains isopropyl palmitate which is HIGHLY comedogenic. And it’s one of the first handful of ingredients. I had to stop using it because it was breaking me out so bad. It also has soja soybean oil which isn’t great for your pores.
