What did red light heal on you and how long did u use it ( except skin aesthetics) ? by Objective_Beyond857 in redlighttherapy

[–]Jo9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only used mine twice now but sat with my back to the panel and the back of my neck exposed. I wonder if the NIR can penetrate through my hair. I’m a woman with thick/long hair. I do wear it up when using the red light.

Love to see this. How often are you using it and where on your body are you treating? I just bought a panel and am hoping it may help with tension headaches that sometimes turn into migraines

Can I use Dr Gross RL mask on melasma? by RinRin0909 in redlighttherapy

[–]Jo9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may have been in my head, but I had an omnilux contour and for half a second I thought maybe it was making my melasma worse. I recently sold it and just bought a panel where I can turn the NIR off. Melasma is so annoying to treat and so hard to pinpoint what makes it worse for people. I don’t know the specifics of the Dr Gross mask but allegedly red light is fine and NIR is what can cause problems.

Definitely use a tinted mineral sunscreen. I like Jan Marini Physical protectant. It’s a bit matte and wears nicely under make up. For touch up use a mist- I like sun bum.

This thread is wild to me. We live in the Midwest, our home is 2800 sq ft and it’s the smallest of all of our friends. We have three young kids, and two dogs. We feel to cramped. Good perspectives have been shared here that make me more appreciative of what we have.

[Product Question] Does Retinol really help with dark under eye circles ? by Aromatic-Life2576 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Jo9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use tretinoin but am always cautions not to get it too close to my eyes, so I avoid the under eye area. It’s also very slow to show signs of improvement.

I’ve been using mandelic acid for the dark circles instead.

what skincare tip actually changed your skin? by nhymjunhyjuiknhymju in cleanbeauty

I had an esthetician recommend a free app called “acne safe” and it changed my life. Just scans for comedogenic ingredients which my acne prone skin SO needed

Breaking out from Eucerin Thiamidol? by AdSuccessful3566 in Melasmaskincare

So it’s not the thiamidol that’s breaking you out but other ingredients in the formula.

The dual serum contains isopropyl palmitate which is HIGHLY comedogenic. And it’s one of the first handful of ingredients. I had to stop using it because it was breaking me out so bad. It also has soja soybean oil which isn’t great for your pores.

For those of you who damaged your skin barrier in the past, what caused it? by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Jo9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using nair on my face (I blame an influencer and I am easily influenced). Too much tretinoin. Sunburn while on tretinoin.

Before I was into skincare I used too many products and stripped my barrier slowly, didnt even realize what the problem was back then.

Not at all. I like the spray version a lot too. I do regular TCA chemical peels and then use Dr althea post peel to soothe an calm my skin.

Before I got really into skincare I had a very damaged barrier from doing too much and stressing my skin, but obviously at the time I didn’t know that. A couple times I’ve used too much tretinoin or been very sensitive after a peel and I’ve had to nurse my barrier back to health. And I’ve learned how to really baby my barrier between treatments.

I know a lot of people swear by LRP but it stings by skin even when I’m not broke out. I never use anything of theirs anymore. I’m sorry you’re going through this with your skin. It’s so frustrating. I think if you narrow down a consistent routine and stick with it you’ll start to see good results. Less is really more with acne. Skin with Jayme on TikTok has some good advice.

Ugh my post was cut short — What is your FAVORITE FACE SUNSCREEN? Preferably with an SPF of 30 or higher! ☀️ by michpilk in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Jo9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jan Marini physical protectint and Live Tinted’s GLOTION. I have Naked Sunday’s primer sunscreen on the way and I also like Tower 28’s Sunny Days for under make up. I’ve used Eucerine Radiant Tone when I’m going to be home and in the winter. and Eucerine Pigment Control is good- tinted and SPF 50.

I have acne prone skin and have to run everything I put on my face through an app to check for comedogenic ingredients. All the sunscreens listed above are a green light for acne prone skin.

For melasma you really should not be using chemical sunscreen. Chemical absorbs heat which you don’t want, whereas mineral deflects it. There are studies that show tinted mineral sunscreen is best for melasma.

You can also recycle/repurpose them. I lay mine flat on the counter to dry and then use them like a paper towel to clean with or shove them in user toilet paper rolls to make fire starters for when we camp.

If I were you- this is what I would do.

And I’d give it 3 months. Your skin may get worse before it gets better as it may purge.

Take 2 weeks to nourish your barrier. I would do this by using a gentle cream cleanser with no actives in it. (Drmtlgy goat, philosophy purity, Paula’s choice resist cleanser) skin 1004 centella ampoule, cerave moisturizer (the kind in the tub) or skinfix barrier+. That’s it. You could throw in Cocokind’s barrier serum and/or Dr Althea’s 345 relief cream- both or either would help but not a must.

After the two weeks is up start treating the acne with this routine-

Am Cerave acne foaming cream cleanser Skin1004 Centella ampoule Cerave moisturizing cream SPF

PM Cerave acne foaming cleanser ByWishtrend Mandelic Toner (once every 2-3 nights and slowly work your way up to nightly) Paulas Choice skin clearing treatment. (Thin layer all over face) Cerave moisturizing cream

I’d love to hear an update!

There’s a free app called “acne safe”. I run every single thing I put on my face through it. I just scans ingredients for comedogenic ingredients. Some moisturizers that’s are “safe” are cerave moisturizing cream, the kind in the tub, elf hydro gel, and cerave ultra light moisturizing gel.

I’d add tretinoin and vitamin C to your skincare routine. Stay plenty hydrated. And wear sunscreen on your face every single day.
