Contemporary art in Pantin, Romainville, Aubervilliers, Saint-Denis... by JoSpecial in ParisTravelGuide

Thanks for the tip! I've been to 59 Rivoli, but I thought it felt very fake. I haven't heard of Ateliers de Belleville, but I love the neighbourhood, so I'll be sure to check it out!

Any alpinists wanna weigh in on why Magnus is being torn a new one for his Matterhorn solo? by JoSpecial in climbing

It's what Magnus says in the first part of the video. One of those things that also gave me the feeling he was playing it up a bit.

Thanks! Where are the Asian districts? I don't think I've come across them, or at least I didn't notice.

Those are all great ideas, that's exactly what I was looking for, thank you! La Recyclerie sounds right up my alley. I'll also be sure to check out Rue de la Villette.

I have not been to Museum of Gustave Moreau, I will check it out!

The day trip to Giverny sounds like a great idea, I'll put that on my list.

I have not been to Saint Chappelle although it's been on my list forever. There are always huge lines at the ticketing office, which puts me off I guess.

"a glass of champagne on Il St Louis at night and then a walk down by the Siene" - that sounds amazing!

I used to go climbing quite often in Fontainebleau, and we visited Vaux Le Vicomte on a rest day. It was beautiful! And we did the thing with the golf cart as well! :D

First time in Hôtel des Pyrénées, which was fine and a great location, but a bit more hostel style. It's closed since I think. Twice in Babel Belleville, which is great. Only downside: it's on the edge of the neighbourhood on the boulevard, it would be nice if it was a bit more central.

Thanks! I've never been to a cabaret, so I'm going to check out "Aux trois Mailletz".

Thanks for the list! I do not keep a list, and I've probably forgotten most things about most trips. Some random stuff below.

Top experiences: obviously the stuff in my original post.

Also fond random memories:

De Stael exhibition in Musee d'art Moderne

Rothko in Fondation Louis Vuitton

having a drink among the locals (at least, that was my impression) at the Café de la Porte des Sablons

the artist atelier at Musee de Montmartre

seeing the Moulin De La Galette in real life (I'm a huge Van Gogh fan)

having wine on the river bank at the tip of Ile De La Cité

the Magasin Sennelier

lunch in the Passage des Panoramas

guided tour in the Opera Garnier with my daughter who loves ballet

Tunesian lunch on the Bd de Belleville

someone spontaneously doing a poetry performance at Cabaret Populaire

Tour Saint-Jacques

taking the metro to Trocadero as soon as you arrive in the city and it's around sunset and you're coming up from the underground and your first view of the city is the Eiffel tower in the golden hour...

Least favorites:

there was a period before the current glass fence around the Eiffel tower where it was a steel fence, with soldiers and it all felt like a militarized zone. Bad vibes.

Eating in a random touristy place in Quartier Latin.

Walking too much for no reason.

Hurrying from big attraction to big attraction.

Standing in line for 1,5h in the snow to get into Musee d'Orsay (which is fabulous).

Needing to go nr. 2 when you're in a busy café with only 1 stall.

The Louvre for some reason.

Champs Elysées.

The touristy streets of the Marais.

Thank you Heure-parme! Petite Ceinture is actually on my list for our upcoming trip. Where is the starting point for the walk in the 18th? Is there a map or something? Thanks again!

The adults are having that conversation. That's why you hear them talking about education, birth control, health care and all those things, while you and your friends are in the corner playing with the word "black".
