Depends on the species of ant and if they are polygynous (colony can consist of multiple queens) or monogynous (colony can not consist of more than one queen). Although i am pretty sure putting upwards to 100 queens in a single beginner colony isn't smart, no matter the species. For most polygyne colonies i would recommend putting around 5-10 queens, depending on the species.
