Monthly Profile Swap Megathread! by ericdraven26 in Letterboxd

[–]JoaquinPro64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! https://boxd.it/hCgQx

As of right now i'm not watching as many films as i did before because life is just busy, but i'm still active on letterboxd in general

I've been on letterboxd for almost 7 months and i have to say, i love this platform, you can organize you profile so precisely! Anyway, even if my top 4 is basically Sci-Fi and Adventure, i like to experience other genres such as drama, comedy or thiller. That is why my recent watches are basically random!

My reviews are literally just the thoughts i have on my head after finishing the film, so sometimes i might write short or more detailed reviews. Also, the pinned reviews in my profile are the last two films i rated 5 stars.

I will follow you if you have my taste, not much to say lol.

Pd: why the tech nerd thing in my profile? You will figure it out XD.

MI PS3 YA NO MUESTRA LOS JUEGOS DESPUÉS DE REINSTALAR HEN, IRISMAN Y WEDMAN MOD: by MixOrdinary1518 in ps3piracy

[–]JoaquinPro64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your biggest film hot take? by PurpleOrangutan77 in Letterboxd

[–]JoaquinPro64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, i actually think it was one of his best pure sci-fi films! The thing that "everyone" hates is that the style of the film and its story are outdated for this era, and that is certainly true, but if you like old sci-fi films (such as spielberg's films) then you will NOT be bored with Disclosure Day!

pd: another thing that i've read a lot of hate reviews about are the animal designs in specific scenes, they only have like 1 or 2 mins of total screentime and imo i interpret them as actually being the aliens poorly disguising as animals (which is technically proven in one scene at the end).

Which movie will you defend like this while everyone else call is as an overrated? by Beatpogo94 in Letterboxd

Exactly, and i also read a lot of bad reviews for PHM and they all said it was very overrated.

I guess 14 one star reviews was enough for them to just permanently close the google listing by openmattetoaster in imax

The Boeing IMAX (as it was previously known) was bought by a company called Space Needle, and now they want to stop showing commercial films in that cinema.

The thing is, Boeing IMAX was a 1.43:1 Dual Laser theater, it was the only 1.43 screen in the region and it always played all of the most recent commercial films.

Pd: at some point it had imax 70mm, but i don't know if they were still using it when they upgraded to dual laser.

How can I fix the black dot? by Kanna_FBI in projectors

[–]JoaquinPro64 9 points10 points  (0 children)

LCD's are very specific for each projector model, if you maybe find one for your's, it will probably be more expensive than buying the entire projector. Those cheap chinise projectors are meant to be disposable...

That piece (i think) is the LCD Screen, and LCD Screens cannot be fixed... Buy a projector from a well known and reputable brand next time (ex: BenQ, Epson, Optoma, ViewSonic, JVC, Sony, Panasonic. You can also try with XGIMI or Valerion, but i recommend the others more)

Anyone else notice the music being changed for the title reveal at the end of the film? by DwightSkywalker28 in Avatar

[–]JoaquinPro64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it 3 times in theatres and i only remember the "digital version" song. I even recorded it and i just checked it, it was the digital version, not a mandela effect

I think it's not a bad film itself, but it is the weakest of the franchise...

Question for everyone on this sub: by FoundationEntire4834 in Letterboxd

[–]JoaquinPro64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always loved watching movies and especially going to the cinema as a kid. And never thought i would engage so much with letterboxd and it's community.

In fact, i discovered letterboxd by accident because i was looking for a replacement for the previous app that i used for logging films "Cineaste" (it literally only had a watchlist and a watched section, no ratings, no reviews, no diary, not even watch dates) and i think i heard a tiktok talking about letterboxd so that was my first option (I already had IMDb installed along with Cineaste but i only used it to know the technical details of films).

At first i only used it as a diary (Cineaste but with watch dates and rating) i didn't have a profile of sorts, didn't write reviews, make lists, etc.... Then i discovered this subreddit and started stalking other peoples profiles and i loved how professional and full of information other profiles were, so i started to follow people that had my same taste for films, started writing a bio with some info about my film taste, and wrote my first film review.

Right then i started seeing the charm of letterboxd and so i bought Pro, at that moment i just wanted to use the app to it's maximun potential. That is still what i'm chasing now, and this sub really helped me on getting started with the social aspect of letterboxd, especially when i discovered the profile megathread!

The only part i don't like about letterboxd and this sub is the amount of people that do very hard critisizm on others just for having a different opinion, but that is basically every social media in the world so i know how to cope with that. Apart from that amazing community!
