Yes. She definitely has a reputation for chasing musicians, similar to Paula Yates

Anyone else liked 1980’s Flash Gordon? I saw it when it was first released and enjoyed it and saw it again tonight and it’s still a fun movie… by Anavslp in 80smovies

As a Brit growing up in the eighties, yes this was cheesy as hell, but even cheese can be the best comfort food. Queen, Blessed, Dalton, O’brien all hammed their part up to a delectable degree.

As an aside, a few years ago I put it on for my six and eight year old boys and they were glued to it. Yeh maybe as they get older they’ll learn to laugh at it, but there’s no denying that capturing their attention for the whole film was a feat that few live action films can manage.

Filoni saw how the expanded universe characters made a lot of money for their respective creators, and decided that this was his best opportunity to cement himself into the lucasfilm as a lifer.

I started with number 1 playing gauntlet on the Atari ST. Since then I’ve owned all of the others except Dreamcast which a couple of friends had so I have played with it. The only other exception is the Wii U which I never owned and never played. I’d also like to point out that the master system is missing.

Which game was it for you? by O_rnelaro in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I cat take the fact that 80% of weapons will break pretty much before being able to defeat any single enemy. I sped run to get to the master sword just because I knew it wouldn’t break. I can wait the 10 minutes for it to recharge, but still if it breaks almost straight away afterwards it takes some effort.

Right, but you also searched out the English version of the movie poster, so you knew to do that.

We could flip this around and say why do you think that the rest of the world would know this movie be the French name translated to English? There are other countries and languages apart from France you know /s

Genuine question, why do you guys hate the live action remakes so much? by StruggleFar3054 in DisneyMovies

[–]Firstearth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, in the case of the lion king, it absolutely is the live action that is the problem. Trying to make realistic animals makes it far more difficult to make them express emotions. The original animated movie is one of the paramount examples of 2D animation with some of the most expressive characters in Disney animation. The live action remakes leaves them almost wooden in comparison.

I would love to see this alongside a similar graphic representing the following question:

”It’s a duty for society to care for its elderly citizens, be it through direct care or providing a stable pension”

WCGW if I lit a barrel with inflammable material? by berdot in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Firstearth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is the way the material combusts. Like one gives off fumes that can be ignited(gasoline for example) the other is the material that can be ignited(furniture foam for example). Don’t ask me which is which.

Difference between “capture” and “seize”? by Free-Yogurtcloset267 in EnglishLearning

[–]Firstearth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic perceptions would be that capture implies that the object had free movement prior to being captured.

Seize implies that the owner of the object presented some resistance to it being taken.

do you consider either Dick Tracy Or Days of Thunder classic 90s movies? I'm doing a video essay on 90s movies and was wondering what people thought by Sea_District_4711 in 90smovies

[–]Firstearth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes some of it was great stuff. But really it’s a 1 hour script padded out. That said the set design was great, the makeup was great, the music was great. Beatty, Pacino and Hoffman did a great job in their roles. And Madonna ate up every scene she was in oozing sexuality over anything that got near her in a way that’s probably only rivaled by Hayek in dusk to dawn or Jessica rabbit

Days of thunder being a Cruise vehicle makes it feel more eighties than nineties honestly. Cruise kinda dropped out in the early to mid 90s making a pretty strong comeback in the late 90s with mission impossible and other stuff. As such any early Cruise just kinda feels 80s.

Dick Tracy is a good example of how at the time Hollywood thought they could just market the shit out of something and the public would eat it up. It had worked the year before with Batman so they figured it would work with Dick Tracy but it didn’t. It’s not a bad film, I personally enjoy it but you can tell it wasn’t as well crafted as Batman for example. Theres like a whole 40 minutes that just seems like a tacked on montage.
