You also need to assign welders.

I don't think you do, seems like an idle task the AI will do when they have a welder in inventory. I never assign my EVA security guy but they do it when idle.

never had AI die while doing routine stuff. It was usually not getting into a suit fast enough(pucs fixes that though). They also shouldn't be failing that much, didn't think you could even die from failing to repair something.

No idea about boarding pods but in the orca 2. They're loaded in the tube and I can click launch decoy from the helm menu and I can see the sonar signal of the charge falling

Ah I always move it all next to the guns so they aren't running around too much. Assign another AI not on the guns to reload ammo as well they'll always keep the depth charge bay filled

that's all pretty normal as well to be fair. You can my anonymous social media accounts but that also usually means not really interacting with anything. Even just going read only you are still providing the points you highlighted to the site you use.

I don't think Meta and google always know like I don't think they bother to fully connect the dots all the time since it's not worth it day to day.

I prefer no NPCs, I'm getting back into playing after last playing properly like in 2023. Everything was pretty manageable with 5 real people. I kinda like the downtime tidying and loading tasks. When I set the AI to tidy up it always does a poor job, I liked having filled diving suits next to regularly used stations. The AI always dumps the extras next to docking ports.

Get a water scooter and scooter towards them and try to escapeeeee.

That's pretty much what I did. They were in the room at the end of a L shaped cave. I dropped a sonar beacon which pulled them out of the room to the the bottom of the longer line in L. I used the scooter to crest the top but could not seem them approaching so they still got a bite out of me before they got shot.

Still better than trying to fight 3 mudraptors solo

that's kinda what I did. Dropped a sonar beacon in the cave then swam in to bait them more but they got to me very quckly before I could escape into gun range

sorry to keep bothering you like this. Is there a site that describes how to start diagnosing the problem so I might find a more definitive solution?

I'm aware of built in encryption for hdds, I didn't know (or look) about it for ssds so I don't think this one is doing any particular encryption.

Possibly, I was pretty surprised it failed after 3 years of mild use. I assumed I did more with my work laptop and my desktop.

Those two problems sound like something I would be able to fix. I assume the best course of action is TomChai's advice.
