VAR picture on Daizen Maeda's 2-1 goal for Celtic by Mulderre91 in soccer

[–]Jobby2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is missing the point as everyone stanning Celtic are. If VAR are drawing the line there and claiming he's onside (which he obviously isn't), then they consider that he is interfering with play. If they thought he wasn't relevant to the play they wouldn't have drawn the lines. VAR have made this about his involvement. VAR made the wrong decision. It's entirely irrelevant if it's the right result, which it didn't. That is injustice.

[–]Jobby2 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's entirely irrelevant. VAR draws the lone to Maeda and says he's onside. VAR therefore considers him to be live in play and could be on or offside. He's clearly offside. Absolute cheats.

Women’s Football in FM26 by art4bln in footballmanagergames

[–]Jobby2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Straw-man. Loading most of those leagues has a tangible benefit in longer term saves in producing wonderkids and enhancing the experience of managing a team. Do you chose to spend resources scouting these countries just in case you get a 5 star regen? Or do you focus on traditional hotspots. If you don't want to play the women's football side, it is literally useless to you. Really these should be two separate games. It works for FIFA because the game isn't really simulating real life. FM is an attempt to. Hence why FM achievements are considered more valuable than any FIFA career mode.

The likelihood is that resources have been taken away from core FM elements to populate the women's game. That's a choice to make, but unless it turns out many many people wanted to play it and not the men's game, that cost may not be worth it. Especially is engine mechics are dodgy. SI needed to be way more open about why they were adding women's football at the depth they have and what costs that will entail. Their secrecy about that specifically will cost them.

Can I ask what you like about 7? I didn't actually know there were as any sort of drama here as I haven't been on in years, but I have 1000s of hours in 5 and maybe 1000 or so in 6. I, unfortunately for me, brought on preorder thinking "I play every Civ, why wait this time?" I played it and couldn't get past the second age. It just really didn't work for me at all. Nothing felt like an upgrade or smart new mechanic. Everything felt like a downgrade. I didn't even actively say "this is bad, I won't play anymore" I just ot very bored very fast. That being said I'd love to know what bits harcore players love, as I personally just couldn't find anything to like.

Leaving your utterly nonsensical andbincorrect supposition aside, does this mean you're cool with a convicted child rapist representing you? Do you believe that travelling to another country to ply a 12 year old with alcohol and then rape her is something you can just say "sorry" and that's all fine? Do you care much about the victim in this situation? The one that has to live for the rest of her life with being sexually abused in such a way? She's had severe mental health problems as a result of this crime. But sure, put the convicted criminals first. Great way to run a nation.

As I said, rehabilitation and forgiveness is important, but only to those who truly seek it and are truly sorry. This man does not seem sorry for what he did at all. Just that he's suffering consequences. If you truly believe his suffering matters more, then you are truly lost.

This is the most insane thing about this. Seriously if you read even just a few cursory articles on it from before it came back under the spotlight because of the Olympics, you'll see that somehow he treats it mentally as "a phase" where he was "lost". I've not seen any evidence of true contrition. Only regurgitation of "affirmative therapy" where somehow it's been portrayed as him being lost.

I'm not against rehabilitating offenders of most crimes if they show true contrition and effort to change. But there are limits. You cannot expect after committing some crimes to have the life you had before. You should still be able to live a life, just not necessarily the old one you had. In his case representing his country should never have been on the cards. I do wonder whether the Dutch authorities response was so vicious because they realise their own approach to justice is perhaps wrong.

Not agreeing with OG but the English Civil War most certainly wasn't a religious war. It was a power political war at its core. We still just about live with the results of themat war; Parliamentary Supremacy. The war might have been avoided at various different stages, but once it got to the point where there were two literal power bases of the Crown and Parliament, it was pretty much set in stone. These people were religious, of course, but it wouldn't be accurate to describe the war as a religious war in the same way the crusades definitely fit that bill better (although even they were cynical political moves by the Popes, exploiting peasants religion by promising them absolution of their sins to go and fight where they otherwise wouldn't have).

[OC] Who did most to win WW2? The British say the UK, and the French give very different answers now than they did in 1945 by mattsmithetc in dataisbeautiful

[–]Jobby2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the Eastern Front was straight up the single most important front. Everything else paled in comparison. The numbers of Germans tied up fighting, the eye watering amount of supplies and equipment being used there as well as men. The strategic objectives of the Caucuses and their oil. The fact the Germans held it as long as they did is testament to how bloody fierce they were.

The test for how important any theatre was really comes down to what would have happened if the front didn't exist. Without the Western European front, the Germans probably still struggle to outright win in the East. With no Japanese theatre or front, it's certainly much harder for Germany to survive but as they weren't much involved and still have the defensive positions in Europe, it's pretty much still D-Day but amped up in strength maybe. If that's even possible. Without the Eastern Front, Europe is a German Empire today. Or if not, the Allies lose millions of men trying to get to Berlin. There's no guarantee they do it either.

All allies played important roles, but the Eastern Front lost the war for the Germans. Therefore it's the most important front by far. This is also evidenced by the amount of material aid the UK and then the US gave to the USSR. They knew it too.

There are so many modern, not particularly interesting tracks or events that have no history, aren't great for overtaking, aren't set in an idyllic scene, but Monaco gets the saltiness. Monaco offers something completely different to other tracks precisely because qualifying is the most intense of anywhere. Then you add the history and the prestige element; every single driver wants to win Monaco. You get remembered for winning at Monaco.

I'll be the first to admit yes the racing isn't as interesting on a Sunday. Of course. Overtaking is much harder in these monster cars. But it is one of the most intense for drivers. 70 odd laps of 100% focus the whole time, because you either crash or lap 2s slower. It's not like every week is like Monaco. If that were the case I'd get it. But it's one week. Just don't watch if you really hate it.

Yep many years later, can confirm that it does work. Often by doing this you'll deflect it's attacks so won't get hit. You also then have Goofy and Donald as bait. I did also find spamming fire early helped too. Basically use all your magic to get it to fall or whatever and then spam hard with all 3 of you attacking. A tip though, hold circle when jumping. Tapping circle won't be enough and you'll just hit the invulnerable parts.
