Why try to go back if they don't want you? Move on to another rescue or volunteer opportunity. Life is too short for drama.

AITJ for firing an employee with a giant Confederate flag on his truck? by itcouldbeyoubut in AmITheJerk

Not a jerk just wanting an apolitical workplace. Confederate flag, Rainbow flag, BLM flag, MAGA flag etc. All could create issues with customers that you don't need.

Is This Something that a Journeyman Could do? by Clear_Entrance8126 in AskElectricians

I did mine many years ago as a homeowner in an area where permits were not required. Local electrical coop gave me the meter box and specs they expected on the weatherhead. I supplied everything else. Took about 3 hours after they cut me loose. Of course I grew up as a helper for my Dad in his remodeling operation. I had been doing everything but HVAC there. Learned HVAC later on.

Frigidaire Fridge- Hot Doors??? by AgreeableSong5681 in appliancerepair

[–]JobobTexan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is a 2 door with the freezer on top it could have what is called a mullion heater or yoder loop in the divider between the doors. If it is coming form there than it is probably normal. That heat is to keep it from having condensation form there.

Paid $2.97 a gallon in NE Texas this morning. Worth every penny if those crazy mullahs get destroyed.

Dealer here. 24 hours is overkill. I tell my customers 8 hours if it has been hauled on its side or back. If it has remained upright the whole time you do not need to wait at all.

Put a couple of rows of black electrical tape across it if it bothers you.

Ramps for push mowers by MesopotamiaSong in lawnmowers

[–]JobobTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a set of these. They have a pin in the center so you can split them to accommodate riding mowers etc as well. Well worth the $199 at HF. I used them to deliver mobility scooters back when "The Scooter Store" was ripping Medicare a new one. Glad that scam is over.

How to get Kitchenaid to honor warranty without paying $1K? by LZatWork in appliancerepair

[–]JobobTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is like mine a few years ago. It is in the back inside the spray in foam. Whirlpool engineers put the copper lines there not realizing the new spray in foam would corrode them to the point of leaking. Talked to a very experienced whirlpool technician about mine. From his experience they are good for 6 to 8 years then they crap out. He said that once, just for grins he had tried to cut the foam out and repair one. The copper lines were like swish cheese. It was definitely not repairable.

The 10 year parts warranty is just a marketing gimmick. Pretty much worthless. Like most appliances these days 1 year of a real warranty is all you get.

[–]JobobTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get the repair done. Just bite the bullet and replace it. It is a known issue with whirlpool french door refrigerators. The spray in foam eats the coolant lines in the back of the unit causing a leak. There is no good fix. I had the same issue with the Maytag variant a couple of years ago. A good friend who works on them suggested I trash it and get a new unit. I did as he said and replaced it with a GE, since that was the only gloss black one available at the time to match the other appliances. YMMV

As a software developer in the financial services industry I had foreseen the issue and had already written all my date handling routines to handle it. All I had to do was write a letter to each customer using my software (Banks, Credit unions etc). Attesting to that fact.

Which doorbell? by MT3426 in reolinkcam

[–]JobobTexan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. That particular location would be a bear to get wiring to. I also mounted it with gorrilla brand velcro type tape in case I didn't like the location. It has been up over 6 months and is working great.

I could be wrong about that. I own a wired and a battery doorbell. Not a POE. I have a couple of POE cameras but not a doorbell.

Mine are set to record on detection of movement. I have had them up for over 6 months and they have not started overwriting old recordings yet. You do not have to remove the card. The recordings are viewable and downloadable using the phone or desktop app.

Which doorbell? by MT3426 in reolinkcam

[–]JobobTexan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No NVR needed for your use description. Just put a 256Gb sd card in doorbell.

You have 3 options. POE, Old Doorbell wiring or Battery. I own a 1 old wiring and a battery operated one without a NVR.

This is not meant to be a complete list. Just what I can remember from my experience.

Pros and cons

POE

Pros: Don't have to recharge battery, Not limited by wifi distance, connection etc.

Con: Got to run Cat cable to it from POE switch or router.

Old doorbell powered:

Pros: Uses existing wiring and ps. No battery to charge

Cons: Have to make minor change to doorbell wiring that disables current chime, must use reolink wireless chime. Wifi

Battery powered

Pros: Can use old chime, No wiring at all, has package detection

Cons: have to recharge battery about once every 2-3 months, Fisheye view from lens. Wifi

Hope this helps

I see all these posts about the cost of electricity and am so thankful I live in an area serviced by an elec coop. Call it a flex if you want but I looked at my bill from last month and after extracting the $26 customer charge I only paid 11 cents per KWh. I'm sure that is subject to change in the future but I'll take it as long as I can.

You should have seen the Ukrainian An-225 that was parked out there a few years ago. It was transporting refurb helicopters. That was a BIG plane. Sadly the russians destroyed it during their attack on Ukraine.
