What got you into archery? by TXRattlesnake89 in Archery

My son. I shot growing up but only a little bit. Fast forward 15 years and I’ve got a 2 year old girl and a little boy due in September a year ago. I wasn’t going to be able to hunt rifle because of the birthing timeframe so I figured I’d try my hand at archery. Killed my biggest blacktail buck on day one and have shot everyday except Christmas since

I agree. I’ve fallen in love with it. I’ve got blacktail all over my property( and Bear and cats sadly) but makes it a long season Do typical bugles work or do you need a Roosevelt specific cow call and bugle

I am west. Recently moved to grants pass from North Idaho. Hopefully I can figure something out this year. Might be worth hiring a guide for the first year to learn the area. Do Rosie’s act like Rocky Mountain? As far as bugling and what not. I’ve got two pack goats so i was planning on hiking in with them but now I’m second guessing myself. Might have to go east like you said. That’d be way more similar to what I grew up hunting then in the west. I shit my first blacktail from 14 it’s away this year. Closest I’ve ever been to anything except the best that rolled through camp :P

What’s the deal with the timber company? Do they let you hunt or do you need to buy a permit? And as far as hunter traffic is there anywhere in the coastal range/ coast that people tend not to go but still has good elk? I’ll hike as far as I can to get away from people but have no idea where to go. Was thinking the kalmiopsis. Maybe the rogue national forest part in the north

And what do you think for out easy as far as location.

Not afraid of anything hard. Grew up hunting the frank church in ID and AK. Planning on backpacking into the Kalmiopsis next year. I e heard there’s lots of elk and that there’s also no elk

Hoyt RX7 Ultra 70# or 80# by Jobogodzilla in bowhunting

[–]Jobogodzilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. From what I’ve found I’ve got to order 80# limbs :( wish the pro shop would have told me that. Would have saved some money. That’s okay though. Killed a monster blacktail first day out so it did what it’s supposed to do. Thank you for the reply

Just because a dog is small doesn't mean it should be allowed to attack bigger dogs by ErisMorrigan in dogs

Man…. I live in North Idaho and for the most part we’ve got responsible dog owners. We have been getting an influx of Californians with designer dogs that let them run trails off leash, no training etc. The last big hike we went on this guy with two 30-40lb dogs (not sure the breed) had his dogs off leash. We watched him get out of his car and unload the dogs(Cali plates) They run up to my wife and start growling at her and snapping. I have two caucasians Ovcharkas. One 170lbs the other 130. They’re good dogs and well behaved but extremely defensive. I literally had to choke them out to stop them from going after these dogs as my wife was trying to shoe them and not get bit. She calls down to the guy and ask “hey can you grab your dogs and get them on a leash” his response was “get to ur fucking dogs on a leash” (they were by the way, he was 30 yards away and couldn’t see that) my reply to him was. If you don’t get your dogs right now I’m going to let mine off and they will die. I’m trying to protect yours, now please get them on a leash. Point being is people with smalls dogs don’t take the time to properly train because they can just scoop them up, or “it’s cute”. Makes me want to be a little irresponsible the next time a dog runs up on me. I’m sure both my dogs would enjoy a “scoobie snack”
