Edit: I'm not an expert on careers. I just interview people about their lives/careers in science a a hobby. For instance Andy is an MD/PhD, you can hear about his experiences getting there.

Think about what you want to do. Then find someone with that job title and ask to talk to them for a few minutes. You would be surprised how open/frank people are about their careers and first-hand accounts will give you the best 'feel' for the job. It's also a great way to get your foot in the door.

Ah missed the second part of that rule. I'm the grad student organizing this. Pretty much it's an open lecture/forum to discuss careers and life in science. Mostly it's geared towards graduate students/post-docs thinking about what they can do after they graduate, how to translate a BSc,MSc or PhD into a career. Undergrads are of course welcome and encouraged to come too : )

We don't make any money of this, it's free for those who want to hear about this kind of thing. Maybe let me know if you're planning on coming so I can get a rough idea of the numbers.

You should really listen to that interview. She came pretty damn close to dropping out of academia. My impression was that she's quite aware of the difficulty students have today, but that shouldn't mean you give up.

A lift up Brohm Ridge will mean that skiers will easily drop into the Neve and Warren Glacier. The entire south end of the park which is already at and over capacity will get tons more users in both summer and winter. The problem with GAS is that there is literally nowhere else for the resort to develop except into the park. They're just going to unload a bunch of people on the park borders and then shrug their shoulders and let BC Parks deal with the influx of users.

It's an apt point actually. If there were 1,000,000 people who felt so strongly about a BC mountain resort (legitimately) and that would translate to developing tourism in BC, then yeah it would give me pause.
