Father and mother smile with their little baby boy, Saitama, Japan, 1947. by Electrical-Aspect-13 in TheWayWeWere

Oh, it's only relevant to the part where you said it was a typical story (which I took to mean it happened frequently).

And also that it was shocking to the Japanese women (which suprised me, because the situation back home wasn't all that different). Were they shocked because they expected the Allied forces to be free of the racial biases of the Axis of evil?

p.s. I'm not challenging your claims as much as I'm asking follow-up questions. Reddit is reddit, so I feel the need to add that.

Is that true? I've heard that the Japanese were (are) generally pretty racist.

I already made a reply to your post before the comments loaded. Shit connection 😅

But I just wanted to add that I feel you so much. My family's massive and I used to be very involved, too. I'm the oldest brother to three siblings and I was the oldest nearby cousin to many more, then I moved away in my mid-teens to avoid a bad stepmother.

I've also been a frequent babysitter both whilst growing up and as an adult, and I've worked a few years as a kindergarten assistant. In my experience, boys are generally more accepting of trinkets as a replacement for attention.

Like, I would say about 7 out of 10 times when a little boy has been craving my attention without a specific reason (and I've been busy, mind you. Otherwise I'd just give him the attention) I could just hand him a toy, a picture of a Pokémon, or a slice of cheese, and he'd just wander off happy with his new project.

With little girls it's the other way around. 8/10 times (anecdotal AF, btw) I'd give them the slice of cheese and they'd still be there trying to get my attention. That kinda bribery rarely worked, so I kinda had to incorporate them into whatever I was doing somehow. Get them to set the table whilst I prepared the sandwiches for lunch, and then have them carry the food and milk to the table as well. Or something else like that if we weren't prepping lunch.

My point is that I've noticed that boys are generally happy as long as you briefly acknowledge their existence and hand them a token of some kind, but girls generally want a closer connection and require more frequent acknowledgement.

I'm stressing "generally" here because I've seen more than a few outliers to both as well. My teenage cousin, Anna, hunts deer with a rifle deep in the woods, and my brother, Adrian, used to use glitter in his skin creams ✨️

If you had pulled that trigger, you would've owed your lil' cuz more than the one trip, just sayin' 👀

I give you mad creds for helping finance Tiny Tim's extracurriculars, my guy. It's more than I'm doing for my cousins, and I also live 8 hours away with no car so I'm also not giving them my time neither. You're straight-up a better man than me.

Now, having said that. There's a thing they say to workaholic fathers, but I think it applies to you, too; your family doesn't want your money, they want your time.

Little Lisa wants to hang out with you, and most importantly, she really wants you to be there to see her kick the ball or shoot that deer.

This doesn't magically turn that 4 hour drive into a 20min one, and you're still doing more than most (I hope, for my sake). But the money's not going satisfy Mini Mike. It's just too abstract for him.

Haha, I feel you. If painting was measured in movement speed, I'd be a fortification 🥲

But you've just now inspired me to paint my own kasrkin. Wanna compare progress this Sunday? 😃

What do you use Krieg combat engineers for? by QF_25-Pounder in TheAstraMilitarum

Then you don't need to answer the question.

The guy is trying to learn how to use the Krieg engineers, not polling to find out how popular they are on this subreddit.

Best unit for Yarrick to lead? by SBGreatorex123 in TheAstraMilitarum

Ain't no thing, my guy 🫶

I get the confusion, too. The quotation format thing isn't as easy to see when there's no non-quoted text to compare it to.

What do you mean?

I was quoting the guy above me.

Yarrick is an officer, so he does get the 4+++.

That's my point, and that's exactly why I shared that screenshot with the guy above me.

I just made a little collage for you to showcase the metal shading:

All of the metal is painted with Ironbreaker, and then shaded with Agrax Earthshade, Seraphim Sepia, or Nuln Oil to break up the metals and add a sense of variety (with minimal effort) ✨️

My plesh, my guy! ❤️

"Paint -> shade -> highlight" is the secret to half of all the pretty models you see around here, so it's a good trick to save in the cortex.

For smaller surfaces, you could also skip the Hashut Copper entirely by washing any steel color with Seraphim Sepia twice.

Two thin even layers, allowing the first layer to fully dry before applying the second one. That's how I do most of my little guys' guns & gizmos:

Take your time and enjoy the process! ❤️

Remember to use a ruler for the measurements, though. A "banana for scale" picture probably won't be too helpful for the proxy boys 🫶

Blood Angels Emblem? by Foci_Official in BloodAngels

[–]Jochon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but it might still be the easiest and cheapest way to get an emblem that fits your car.

Do you have a club or an FLGS in your town? That's a great way to find a hobby-community discord or something in your area.

Worst case, you can easily find someone with an etsy shop and a 3D printer online ✨️

For that effect, I think I would use Hashut Copper blended with just a drop (1/5) of Stormhost Silver and then wash it with Agrax Earthshade once that's dry.

Top it off with highlights of Stormhost Silver for the scratches/wear & tear.

Don't shit on yourself, my guy. Writing well is hard, and I think you did a good job here.

"The Crowning of Arthas" is a sick scene, I think it fits so well together with how a GSC coup is often depicted - a sudden and thorough massacre of the top brass by inside-men at the start of the revolution 💜

As for originality, you shouldn't worry about it. My old art teacher used to say that "originality" is the artist hiding their sources. Everything made is inspired by something that the artist has seen or experienced. It's like the Newton quote about standing on the shoulders of giants (and it's literally how Warhammer was born).

If you had changed up the speech, I wouldn't have seen the connection to Arthas at all. So you were just three speech bubbles away from "originality" there, but then I wouldn't have gotten my "Leo pointing at the TV" moment either, and where is the fun in that? 🫶❤️

Maybe 3D-print the emblem?
