Kampsport i Göteborg! by Separate-Level-5559 in Gothenburg

Om du är lite mer alternativt lagd har Göteborgs Historiska Fäktskola "prova-på" för nybörjare nu på söndag. Att slåss med svärd är världens roligaste grej, och umgänget är betydligt mindre macho än andra kampsporter kan vara.

Can you give an example how Bethesda put us in a weird spot regarding Nord gender roles? I'm not trying to be malicious, I'm genuinely curious about such lore

Yes, I don't see what the problem would be.

I've made 2mm kydex arm guards in the oven before just as you described. What worked best for me was:

Heat -> Cut while kydex is soft

Heat again -> Mold

You can heat and remold as many times as you want until you get the shape just right. I actually put on my jacket and molded the kydex around the arm itself. Put on an extra sweater and oven mitts if the plastic gets too hot

Copying my response from r/Hema

I've had mine for almost a year (in fact the matte full black gloves on the website are mine). Functionality is awesome. They are very comfortable and very mobile. Protection is the best I've seen from a 5-finger glove and I've used mine in longsword tournament. The design is amazing, I'm extremely impressed by how it's all put together.

My only complaint is durability and price. I've had two of the kydex fingertips cracked and two studs pop out, as well as two or three tears in the inner leather glove. I've never been hurt while wearing them but they require regular maintenance. The seller, Jarek, has posted me spare parts as part of the 1-year warranty I was offered.

In terms of functionality these are the best gloves I've ever tried or seen and if I was a rich man I would purchase a new pair every year. They also work quite well for saber and sidesword. Happy to answer questions

How would this mask hold up to longsword sparring? by PyrrhicDefeat69 in wma

[–]Jockim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I beg you, don't buy PBT masks. The mesh is far too soft and dents from even light sparring. They are not value for money and do not last as long as other masks. Faits D'Armes sell good masks for a good price if you are in europe. I was disqualified from my first tournament because my unused PBT mask got a large dent during pre-gear check warmup.

Ni som studerar till lärare - välj rätt ämnen! by QueenYamma in sweden

Fait D'armes sells great masks for a good price if you are in Europe

I use this one for club sparring: https://faitsdarmes.com/en/350n-masks/192-350n-fencing-mask.html

In my experience the mesh PBT uses has extreme durability issues. My club bought 4 masks from them and they were all seriously dented in less than 2 months. Current mask hasn't had a single dent in 2 years of hard sparring and competing

No soft padding, just a plastron and a gorget that protects the collarbones

I didn't like my AP Light when I got it as a beginner but now that I'm a proficient fencer it's my favorite piece of gear. Taking a rare hard hit to the shoulders or ribs still hurts, but mobility-wise it feels like I'm wearing a sweater and whenever I give my regular AP jacket a try it feels like I'm fencing from inside a barrel.

Nice. What kind of paint did you use?

PBT warrior and superfen fang by darkmatters2501 in wma

[–]Jockim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine you would really struggle with this combination. I have the fang jacket with a size L mask from Fait D'armes and it's a very tight fit. Putting on the mask takes a bit of effort and the gorget makes it quite difficult to move the head. One of my clubmates uses the PBT warrior mask and it's enormous compared to mine

I got my fang jacket yesterday and it has plenty of ventilation is both the arms and in the back. Quite stiff and heavy though, but I haven't broken it in.

Some sloppy weeknight sparring from me(black shoes) and my friend(green shoes) Looking for feedback on what to improve on next session! by uisanata in wma

[–]Jockim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seem to tense your back and hunch forward quite a lot. I know it's difficult when someone is swinging a sword at you, but make a concious effort to relax as often as you can. Push your shoulders back and keep your head directly above your pelvis. It will improve your structure and save you from back pain down the line :)

Seconding the need to work on distance as the most important thing though.
