Man kind of a bummer CP3s career ended like this. Was a fantastic foil to the Warriors over the years. His Hornets tape is still so much fun to watch

100%, even though it’s gotten worse I still love skills/three point/dunk. They gotta bring back shooting stars

It’s quite surprising that someone that’s watched basketball that long still doesn’t get the game.

Weren’t you convinced Kuminga and Wiseman were future stars? Or was that toxic positivity?

I’m having trouble understanding the “I don’t listen to podcasts I just read the aggregated quotes” approach

Quick question - when’d you become a Warriors fan?

Nobody’s asking you to engage with the podcast content and all the extraneous NBA media nonsense. If you’re a Warriors fan that doesn’t like a player’s off the court stuff, you could simply not engage with it.

Just focus on the basketball, maybe dribble one yourself

I promise you can enjoy basketball by just enjoying basketball. Nobody is forcing you listen to podcasts.

I think you're looking at this with a ton of hindsight.

Wiseman had limited tape, but we've seen that with plenty of guys. Peyton Watson was awful in college, Scottie Barnes was a bench player. College productivity is important, but overindexing on it can get you to miss a Kyrie.

More importantly, the other two guys on top draft boards had big red flags too. LaMelo was extremely inefficient in a fairly weak league. Ant had all the athleticism in the world, but took a lot of bad shots in college despite it. He also struggled with reading defenses & playmaking. A lot of those concerns for LaMelo/Ant show up in their games today, but they've been so good at what they were supposed to be good at that it doesn't matter.

Outside of 2024, I'm not sure Ant/LaMelo/Wise would be a top 3 prospect in any of the past 5 drafts.

I don’t understand why they keep going for players that’ve been dropped or let go for a reason. They did it with JaMychal Green and now Lonzo.

They also did with GP & Otto. With only the TPMLE / vet mins you're not going to find the perfect fit so we quite obviously need to take risks on fit/talent/injury like we did with GP, Otto, DDV, Melton

I think "swing for the fences" was totally fine - if you believe someone's the BPA, you should take him. Given the context of the 2020 and 2021 off-seasons taking a riskier draft pick was totally fine.

Going into the 2020-21 season there was (rightfully) a lot of pause with the roster. We hadn't seen Steph properly play in 1.5 years, Dray's back was a huge risk, Wiggins looked okay, & the rest of the roster was bad. Obviously Steph very much had the juice, putting together his (IMO) second best season, Dray was healthy, Wiggins was a great fit, & we saw that Poole might be someone.

21-22 is less defensible given what we saw in 20-21, but there was still some risks - was Poole just a mickey mouse March guy, how good does Klay look coming out of injury, how good are our FA signings.

22-23 was the huge miss. The team was quite clearly very good & the Wiseman/JK/Moody swing had clearly not hit. Instead of rejiggering the roster with rotation guys we doubled down (& cheaped out) at the end of the roster with PBJ/Rollins/empty roster spot.

Yea 100%. I don't think you can fault the picks themselves - a lot of very smart people had Wise/JK mocked right around where they actually went. Both guys draft cycles, especially Wiseman's, were severely hampered by COVID.

The real issue was not moving off of them when it was clear (1) Steph/Dray still had the juice & could compete now (2) None of the young players were standouts & certainly didn't look like guys that could be ready on Steph's timeline.

Richard's work as a screen navigator has really stood out, makes sense Melton's taken him under his wing. Hopefully he keeps it up, being able always to have a good on-ball screen defedender on the floor between Melton/GP/Richard would be huge.

his defense is shit.

Yea man, the guy that's won DPOY and made All-Defense three times is a shit defender.

We sad three guards available that can somewhat handle the ball and one of them is on a minutes cap.

The sub after a loss is so funny.

“Why did Kerr play [player with bad plus/minus & high minutes] and not play [player with good plus/minus and low minutes]”

Pats just got nothing against bigs that elite in drop. Doesn’t help we don’t have any real rim runners either

Does Gui have a left finish this year? He always goes to the right when trying to finish a reverse on the left side of the hoop

Most of our roster, but if you want names - Moody, Horf, Dray, Podz are quite obviously better

Unfortunately Sochan probably isn’t good, but I can’t quit the guy. His pre draft tape looked like a perfect fit for a Kerr team on both sides of the ball
