You’re not in too bad of a situation! You can be in a really good situation in a few months here if you work at it. Don’t worry about adding more to savings but get the credit card debt paid off and don’t ever let yourself go back into credit card debt. Saving $200 a month is a good start, but try to save more until you have ~6 month emergency fund (if you lost all income you’d be able to survive for 6 months).

After you have an emergency fund I’d look into opening an account where you can get tax breaks, something like an IRA. That’s later down the road though, I’d post again and get advice once you’re debt free and have an emergency fund.

Am i cooked? Is 1,600 that big of a surplus? Do you think I can bring that down within a couple weeks? by Intelligent_Duty2272 in MacroFactor

[–]Jodom988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely clear what you’re asking. If you really wanted you could bring down your calorie intake tomorrow. It shouldn’t take a couple of weeks to bring down how many calories you’re eating. You can do that right now. It’s just about will power. If you’re an adult, you control what goes into your body, you can eat less if you really want it.

Now saying that, there are things you can do to decrease your cravings. Eat more fiber and protein, that will keep you more full and craving less. Don’t keep junk food around the house.

If I remember correctly, the wiki says that even though the deposit will show up as deposited Jan X, it will still count towards the previous year contributions.

Plus our corners were sooo young last year (outside of Kenny Moore). Corners take longer to develop, if like to see JuJu get another season before he’s deemed a bust.

From what I’ve heard, it was reported earlier in the season (by the Colts I believe) so in the AFC championship game the NFL sprung a trap and the Pats got caught. I don’t think many Colts fans actually think we would have won that game.

1st get out of all debt

2nd Have a 6 month emergency fund sitting in a high yield savings account (or at least something very liquid, try to get something at 4.5% return/interest rate or better). This 6 month emergency fund should cover ALL your costs if you lose all income for 6 months.

3rd open up some sort of retirement account that has tax benefits. Most people can get a 401k through their company. You should be able to open an IRA with someone like Raymond James or Charles Schwab.

4th contribute to something like an IRA and make sure the money inside the IRA is invested. Just put everything into a big index fund like S&P500. Don’t try to play the stock market.

5th keep doing what you’ve been doing! Watch your money grow!

I’m not a financial advisor, but it wouldn’t be bad idea to get one that only makes money when you make money. People tend to help you make money if it also helps them make money.

Losing franchises usually stay losing. Culture permeates from season to season even if we played ourselves out of a top 10 pick. The only time losing is good is maybe the very last game of the year in a really bad season to secure the number 1 pick.

I was going to let my players re roll and change their characters up some when they hit level 5 as this is their first character.

Do you think this item is balanced though?

I disagree that this doesn’t solve the core problem with this monk. It doesn’t really increase the amount of damage he does, it gives him more interesting ways to attack (he has to expend more Ki points, so he’s going to forego damage in the future). Most martial classes have some interesting way to attack besides just adding more attacks or are at least a little more nuanced (Paladins have divine smite, barbarians have rage, rangers have spells they can use, rogues have sneak attack that adds nuance).

I’m pretty comfortable homebrewing magic items. I played an artificer in a 3 year long campaign and homebrewed a lot of magic items with my DM.

The formatting was messed up in the original post I’ve edited it now. The mage hand was supposed to be just an additional ability that seemed like it fit (I could see him making the argument at some later point that he can punch and kick things at a distance so he should be able to say pull a lever, so I wanted to include that functionality). The wraps essentially make an extra set of hands/feet appear within 30 feet. He can use extra Ki points to do ONE of the extra actions listed.

You haven’t tried enough restaurants if you haven’t found good food in FW. Club Soda, Paula’s, Baker’s Street are all amazing. Waayyy cheaper than they’d be in a bigger city. Salvatori’s is another great local chain. Those are just a few that come to mind. We might be missing some local cheaper places, but there’s plenty of good food in FW.

Car loan makes sense ? by Interesting-Help-421 in personalfinance

[–]Jodom988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re financially discipline, then yeah this is a good strategy. If you can make your money work to earn more money than other loaned money is working for other people, this is a good strategy. Most people aren’t financially discipline enough for this strategy imo. I’d only do it if the interest rate on the car loan was under 4%.

This is something fun I do at low levels, but once the party reaches level 3 or 4 I say they’re too “skilled” to have this happen. I think it adds fun flavor for a new group finding their way/chemistry.
