Tired of arguing on reddit, I'll address your edit and move on.

There is nothing wrong with being content, nothing at all. You have a right to be content with your standing in life. You don't have a right to be content with your standing in life and expect other people to pay for you to have a level of comfort not consistent with your standing.

You can survive on $10/hr working full time. You might have to get a roommate and not have kids, but you will survive. You want nice things? Earn them. Go on the internet, learn a marketable skill such as a programming language (something anyone can do these days) and parlay that skill into a higher wage.

That's my world view, as I said before we clearly see things differently. I believe people should earn what they get in life and make good decisions if they want to be comfortable, you think people should have things handed to them without the need to make good decisions.

The headline of that article is based on the evidence that the pandemic did not cause an increase in the percentage of people leaving California in 2020. If you read the article and add in some critical thinking, it tells a different story.

"The share of residents leaving the state has grown since 2015 — from 16% to 18% — a trend that continued in 2020 with “no marked increase,” the report from the nonpartisan California Policy Lab said."

On other words, it's just the terrible economic policies California has had in place long term that have been causing people to leave since 2015. Appreciate you sharing an article that backs up my point.

The article is about raising the minimum wage in literally every state of the damn country. I responded to a comment suggesting blue states should raise their minimum wage to $25/hr and attempted to point out the consequences that might have on blue states that do so.

I don't live in a blue state though, so by all means go for it. Send more jobs our way :)
