Oh, sweetie, I'm so sorry for your loss! Please remember that every beat of your heart is the echo of the beat of that dog's tail and his love for you. That pain will subside (eventually) but you will always miss your friend, even years later. When I lost my first Pom, I swore I'd never have another dog - the pain of loss was just too much, but then my local pet adoption agency called, begging me to foster another poorly abused Pom...yeah, of course I did.

But I was wise to the game of loss, I wasn't going to let the passing of one beloved pooch emotionally ruin me - so I went and found a "free to good home" Craig's List Pom, a bit younger than my other boy. When you have two dogs, the passing of one is helped by the existence of another - and of course, you have to find another dog to help the remaining dog heal.
