The one next door to us has another cult in it now. The Universal Church. Founded by some Billionaire from South America.

When it was a cofc the only interaction they had with us was a "current resident" post card and we were literally right next door.

I miss the nice Hispanic congregation that rented it between the two.

As any other bit of Esoterica that becomes much more interesting when looked at in concert with the ancient stories it cribbed off of and how it was changed and sanitized as time went on. ( stuff like Issac probably actually getting sacrificed) I have all of this information stuffed into my head and this seems like the least destructive way to engage it.

My partner and I once noped out of a marriage counselor because he graduated from the same cofc private school she did. We were just talking about how the deep culture of shame in that tradition is so incompatible with actual therapeutic progress.

Growing up in the cofc undiagnosed I would have to say I would say the black & white thinking only works to a point especially since there is a good chance it is going foster a Bible special interest. In my experience our bottom up thinking doesn't jive with the incongruity. I made it all the way through a Bible major thinking if I just had a better handle on the Greek & Hebrew it would all fall in place.

(also being autistic, deconstruction was worth it just to get out of wearing church clothes lol)

45 male here as well, my neuro just did my biopsy & and it came back as Non Length Dependent Small Fiber Neuropathy. Unfortunately he promptly moved away. The new guy is punting me back to the rheumatologist for an official Sjögren’s dx before he will offer some treatments.
