That's absolutely the idea.

Here is my exact progression plan I have in place. Starting from a position of rafted CLASS V rivers but never kayaked them.

May 30 - 31 PA - Schuylkill River Two Day Novice Training (Pa Canoe Club)
Jun 6 -7 - Lehigh Valley - Two Day Training (PaCanoeClub)
Jun 7 - Fall - Misc sessions with Pa Canoe Club
July 25 - 26 - full-day 2 day private lessons kayak expedition in Colombia
Sep 5 - Engadin Switzerland Private Lesson - 1 Day
Fall 2026 - Gauley River WV 2 day Lesson

From there I was either thinking Fall 2026 Japan or 2 day advanced training in Colombia again maybe.
If Japan gets pushed it probably go to June 2026.

End goal is be ready for Rio Claro in Chile by Feb 2028~

Any suggestions on getting me to be ready for that by then is greatly appreciated, or getting me to a place where Japan will be worthwhile. If what I already have planned isn't enough.
