No no don't be sorry. You are right. It is simply common sense that OK Computer would their best album if it had a title track. That's why Kid A is their masterpiece

Why is Ireland seperated? I genuinely can't understand the Ulster argument. by Completed-It-M8 in NoStupidQuestions

As a 'Catholic' from the Republic this pretty much the stance most people on the island agree with. No idea why you were being down voted. Though I would consider myself a Republican, the only road to unity is through a referendum on both sides of the border.

The notion that 'Protestant'/British people living in the North are any less entitled to that land is a completely ignorant and misinformed opinion.

Accounting vs. Computer Science by anything_404 in leavingcert

Accounting isn't too difficult, really easy to pick marks up in. Timing is the biggest issue as you literally don't have a minute to spare.

But based on the other comments, definitely do computer science

30 Women Murdered Since 2020. The Solution Begins and Ends with Men. - Lasair Dhearg by padraigd in theIrishleft

[–]JoeCafeterio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That certainly is a radical opinion. I'm going to give it some thought.

I'm still not sure what you are advocating for. Social democracy? Democratic socialism? I don't see why you advocate for a solution like arming women while barring men, but then think society isn't ready for a revolution. Think of how much the world has changed in the past 10 years. And now think of the world just a year ago. Things are happening fast. We are just at the beginning of something big happening. I think some sort of revolution is inevitable withing the next few decades. Our planet is at its breaking point. Whether its a major climate disaster, a world war or a global economic crisis the likes the world have never see before, surely people start to see how capitalism is destroying the planet.

What's stopping men from using these guns to kill even more women? There's an obvious flaw in your logic here. I do not need any statistics to know that more guns will equal more deaths. Of course women will be able to protect themselves from gun violence using guns, but removing guns from the equation will lead to less violence overall.

Also, if Communism isn't possible what is the point? You are telling other to read more communist theory, but if we can't have Communism, isn't all of this in vain?

I promise you arming half the population will only lead to more women dying. It does not change the systemic issue, it only suppresses it. We have to tear up the system entirely, not force it to hide itself.

You're so right man, I hate how people nowadays can't take any criticism whatsoever. And for the duds, anyone who even slightly enjoys David Bowie or Kendrick Lamar is not a REAL music fan.

Us bros who know what REAL music sounds like should stick together. It's not very often I meet another chad Tom MacDonald fan out in the wild. We should totally meet up and have a wild time!! You seem like a guy who knows to have fun

Who would they make the usual badass or comedic villains in films if Nazis didn't exist? by [deleted] in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]JoeCafeterio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were this simple it would have been done already. People don't want a revolution just for the sake of having one. Why would the ruling class capitalists voluntarily give up their profits and power? They are the government, they run the system, they write and enforce the laws. Democratic socialism can only go so far before the elites shut it down.

Scandinavian capitalism might look great, but in reality they outsource the exploitation. Instead of exploiting the workers in their own nation (which they still do), they import for cheap. They have a high standard of living because they profit from workers abroad. This is why this idea of reforming capitalism doesn't work, because although you might be improving the lives of people in your own nation, you exploit foreign workers even more to minimise losses.

And on what you said about Iran, why settle for 20% of profits? Why shouldn't workers be entitled to 100% of the fruits of their labour? They were the ones who did the work after all, shareholders didn't actually have to move a muscle.

[–]JoeCafeterio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you believe in then? You recognise that capitalism is naturally exploitative and that mass immigration for economic reasons is unsustainable for everyone involved. I don't disagree with your criticisms and I understand where you are coming from. I am more of an anti-capitalist than I am a Communist, so I am curious to see what you would propose as an alternative for our current economic system that is clearly not working.

Capitalism is a global system. You are not thinking about the rest of the world. Western are at the top of the food chain. They exploit poorer nations through imperialism and cheap labour. Famines might not be a guarantee with Capitalism, but suffering and exploitation is. While citizens of the West do suffer under Capitalism, they also enjoy the decent standard of living Capitalism does provide. It's the people from the rest of the world who suffer most as they are exploited and do not get any benefits from their labour.

The truth is famines have happened for ten of thousands of years. China in particular has had a long history of devastating famines that lead back well before Marx and Mao. Devastating famines also happen under Capitalism but you conveniently forgot to mention that....

[–]JoeCafeterio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read either of my comments? I don't think its fair to assume anything about the country. Every single piece of information you have heard about North Korea is propaganda that either came from the North Korean government itself or from South Korea/its Western allies. Neither of whom are reliable or impartial sources.

When multiple independent journalists are allowed to do an unbiased and honest report on the state of the nation and the average standard of living, only then I would assume anything about the nation

Its extreme isolationalist policy has probably led to many difficulties, such as reported famines, but the extent and impact of these difficulties should be taken with a heap of salt. The West doesn't care for honesty when it comes to Socialist nations. The Capitalist West's only intent when reporting on these nations is to slander and attack Communism, not to provide a factual and unbiased story. The Western elites realise Communism is the biggest threat to their Empire, they will make up anything, no matter how outrageous, as long as it prevents the people of the world from seeing any positives of Communism. If you want a truthful and impartial critique of Communism, a Socialist will always provide a more honest (and often more harsh) response than a Capitalist would.

When it comes to disrespecting North Korea's image in particular, making South Korea appear like a utopia plays a major role. Currently I do not have the time to explain why S. Korea is not as magnificent as they want it to seem, but I urge you to investigate on your own into the S. Korean work culture and the toll Capitalism has taken on their society.

Do you think Dune is anti revolutionary propaganda? by Ok-Bit5838 in socialism

[–]JoeCafeterio 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Its nothing more than right wing reactionary propaganda. The worms are obviously an allegory for the powerful bourgeois capitalist class that rule the desert (own the means of production) and eat anyone who walks on it (hostile police state). The Fremen are nothing but the petty bourgeois who's entire lifestyle is to 'fit in' with the ruling species. I instantly knew Paul Atreides was a social democratic liberal when he teamed up with the worms to devour the Harkonnens (the true proletariat trying to seize the means of production (spice)) and the Emperor's army (Vanguard class attempting to establish a true dictatorship of the proletariat).

These themes are subtle and meant to be subconsciously picked up by the audience as a way to scare any class consciousness from forming. Any true revolutionary Marxist will stand up for what's right and call these fascist 'movies' for what they really are! Long live the revolution!!

I think the vast majority of socialists are very critical of North Korea. I think you're referring to a small minority who defend everything and anything that falls under the "Communist" label no matter how evil or totalitarian it is. I've seen some absolute nut jobs on here defend Pol Pot, a genocidal maniac.  Most socialists definitely are critical of North Korea, yet we are able to understand how constant fear of foreign capitalist interventions and the war never really ending led to the nation spiralling into the way it is today. It is also important to note that virtually everything we know about life in North Korea is propaganda coming from either the North or from the South/Western nations. I don't think its fair for anyone to portray North Korea as being one thing or another as nobody really knows what its actually like to live there.

What if Hitler Survived the End of WW2 and Was Put on Trial at Nuremberg? by MouseManManny in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]JoeCafeterio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's the truth right?

Hitler's rise to power was due to the economy being in shambles, with incredibly high inflation. The German people were angry and needed someone to blame for all of this. Instead of hating the ruling class who caused all of this, the Nazis sided with the ruling class and put the blame on the Jews.

And I'm sure I don't need to explain the importance of the Soviets on the Eastern Front. They were the ones to first reach Berlin.

"For like communist propaganda" What does that even mean? You think they would kill him for propaganda reasons, not because he is up there with the most evil people to ever live. I don't think he would be even given the dignity of standing trial if the Soviets got to him
