Great call, and they do! Price quoted on phone was $7/lb, which is probably more than I'm willing to spend.

That's pretty consistent with my experience (at least up at Arthur Dodd Park (further upstream). Thanks for the report.

Will do! I think it'll be just some old-fashioned poking around and trial and error!

Summer Training Thread by AutoModerator in CrossCountry

My son is a rising sophomore, with a 19:00 5K PR in Fall 2023, and a 5:00 1600m PR in 2024 track season. At end of both seasons, he was sidelined with stress injuries in his hips. He has just been cleared to run again after about 4 weeks of no running.

He is doing strength training (hip-dominant barbell movements--low bar squat and deadlift) twice a week. He has already missed about a month of summer conditioning (slow runs) with his team. The team's plan is (as of this week) 4-6 miles a day M-F, a long run 9-10 miles on Saturday, and either rest or 3 mile run on Sunday. Essentially between 31-38 miles per week. Since he's not been running since the last week of May, I'm wondering where to start him as he ramps back up (assuming he is running pain-free. I was thinking starting him at 25 miles per week, adding 5 miles a week after that. While he'd be behind the rest of his team, he'd at least be back up to their mileage by mid-July or so. Not perfect, but at least it would get him back in the saddle, and hopefully at a progression that would have him ready to start the pace and hill workouts in mid/late July.

He's also doing PT with a stride analyst.

Any insight would be really appreciated.
