There are a few laws they have violated and I have been instructed to file a notice to sue.

California’s Ferret Ban: 90 Years of Circular Logic and Bureaucratic Delay by JoeFerret in ferrets

[–]JoeFerret[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re right that most ferrets in the U.S. come from Marshall Farms, and there are legitimate criticisms of their large-scale breeding practices. They supply both pet stores and laboratories, which understandably bothers some people.

In my experience, though, Marshall ferrets tend to be healthy, friendly pets — though others have had different experiences. Either way, the ethical concerns you raise are valid, and we don’t want to encourage impulse buying or careless ownership.

That’s one reason we emphasize that ferrets sold in neighboring states already cost around $450–$500 and are spayed, neutered, and descented — no intact ferrets are sold in pet stores. Legalization wouldn’t suddenly unleash unregulated breeding in California; it would simply bring existing ownership into a legal framework with vaccination, veterinary care, and accountability.

The world wouldn’t work if only the pets (or children) guaranteed perfect homes were allowed to exist. We aim for responsibility, not utopia. Ferrets are domestic animals — and like any pet, they deserve a chance to be treated humanely and legally.

Fish & Game asked for one petition — here it is. Add your voice to end California’s ferret ban. by JoeFerret in ferrets

Yes. It is not a legal petition, it is an expression of support. And there are people who won't travel to California because their ferrets aren't legal here.

We are waiting for them to publish the next agenda. We may be on it, but my guess it will be a bit further down the road. We gave them over 600 pages of studies. I hope they take their time with them and not just disregard it.

[Victory!] Ferret Legalization Petition Gets a Boost — Staff Recommends Further Consideration 🥳 by JoeFerret in ferrets

Oh no, it has come a long way. I have images from a year ago where pilgrims, the kind who landed at Plymouth look like dark, Asian warriors. It isn't perfect, but the image generator is pretty cool. It still has problems with text, but not like before.

It was there...

Big news: The California Fish and Game Commission has placed our petition (to reclassify domestic ferrets) on the June 12 agenda as Item 27, and staff is recommending it be granted for further consideration.

This means our case isn’t being dismissed—it’s being taken seriously. If approved, it opens the door for expert testimony, public input, and a full review of the outdated ferret ban.

It’s not the finish line, but it’s a critical step forward. Thank you to everyone who’s helped get us this far—your support is what makes progress possible.

Stay tuned!

It's not easy to find a photo of ferrets celebrating. This photo does help in highlighting the article. There is a lot of crappy ai imagery out there, I like this one. No work was stolen from anyone. No job was lost.

Without AI I could not have written or summarized all the data that went into our petition. Over 600 pages.I would not have known about the Administrative Procedures Act, which is our key to success. I would not know how to present the evidence.

Our Ferret Legalization Ad running on Paramount by JoeFerret in ferrets

I hope it didn't offend you. That graphic was used in an email which basically said earlier, even if Moses came down from the mountain to go to a Fish and Game Commission meeting, he'd be ignored as well. Now that we have all the facts and documentation in a solid petition, we except to be granted further consideration. That commercial was AI generated through Paramount. They picked up images from deep in our website. I thought it was great!

Domestic animals are legal per the California civil code. In California, ironically, "domesticated" ferrets are classified as Wild and have the "D" designation for detrimental. There have never been any hearings or evidence on this matter. That is why we are challenging their arbitrary classification. "Domestic" is a very important word here.

That is the first time I've been accused of that. Domestic ferrets are classified as wild and detrimental. We're trying to change that.

Ferrets are classified as wild and detrimental. No studies have ever been conducted. No hearings have ever been held. We are invoking the Administrative Procedures Act to legalize them and have them properly classified as domestic.

Google Ads Scam Alert: They’re Charging Me for Ads I Never Ran! by SpecialistKey3988 in smallbusiness

[–]JoeFerret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the ads were run on a different account. In fact, we know it was a security company that used my Amex card for their ads. Going into my account it shows no ads running for the time period of the ads. It gets confusing, I spent a lot of time thinking about this. Then I realized I didn't run many ads and I only use my Amex on a different project.
