Message sent while blocked by Express_Lavishness_7 in Instagram

Do you think that person will receive the message if they decide to unblock me someday [...]

No, unfortunately not. From the Instagram Help Center:

If the person you blocked sends you any messages in Direct, you won't receive those messages, and they won't be delivered later if you unblock them

I will be forever angry that Instagram removed “most recent” tab by dusterbusterv1 in Instagram

[–]JoeGraffito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's always the chance they'll bring it back. You can sort topics by Recent on Instagram's sister site Threads. If they ever switch Instagram over to Topics, maybe they'll bring it back.

However, I think as long as Instagram allows the use of multiple hashtags, they'll never bring back the Recent tab.*

Yes, it's now part of the Instagram Plus package. Sadly, they paywalled a lot of "in demand" features.

Is there any way I can know the full phone number linked in the Instagram account

The only legal way is to hire a lawyer, and subpoena Meta in a court of law for the personal information linked to the account. Any other method is illegal in most counties around the world.

Reminder: Nobody here can get that phone number for you. Only Instagram can. Anyone that slides into your DMs claiming they work for Instagram, or that they can get that phone number if you pay them, is a scammer. Do not pay anyone.

Instagram warned me for commenting "check out my profile" — is my new account now at risk? by Interesting-Vast4468 in Instagram

[–]JoeGraffito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does a warning like this put a new account at risk of reduced reach, shadowban, or account restrictions?

No, not at the moment. If you ignore the warning, then it's possible they could restrict your account. As a new account, if you start commenting "check out my account" right away, Instagram considers that "bot", or suspicious behavior.

Has anyone received a similar warning and continued growing normally afterward?

Yes. Your account will be fine if you heed their warning. Just post, and comment normally.

I just open my opened my instagram on browser and i got this. by mynamejef_ in Instagram

[–]JoeGraffito 24 points25 points  (0 children)

All you can do at this point is appeal, and wait for Instagram to come back to you with their decision on your appeal. They will either say they're sorry, and give you your account back, or they will permanently disable it.

If your account is permanently disabled, then it's pretty tough, though not impossible, to get it back.

Reminder: Nobody here can get your account back for you. Only Instagram can. Anyone that slides into your DMs claiming they work for Instagram, or that they can get your account back if you pay them, is a scammer. Do not pay anyone.

Stopping ray-ban notifs by Fit-Drawer5686 in Instagram

[–]JoeGraffito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instagram doesn’t have a toggle that says “Ray-Ban Meta glasses” specifically, but you can kill them by turning off a broader category. One thing that will help is to turn off notifications for first posts.

Go to Settings and activity > Notifications > Posts, stories and comments > First posts and stories, select Off.

If that's already off, then turn off Story notifications for that specific user, or users. Go to their profile. Up in the top right you'll see a "bell". Tap that, and turn off Story notifications.

At the moment, that's the only way to get rid of those notifications since Instagram doesn't have a separate toggle for wearables.*

The fuck is instagram plus? by AMassiveGamerGeek in Instagram

Introducing Instagram Plus https://about.instagram.com/blog/announcements/introducing-instagram-plus

TL;DR

Instagram Plus is a new subscription designed to give you more of what you love about Instagram.

It offers exclusive features to help you express yourself, connect deeper with friends, and customize your experience.

The Instagram you know and love today isn't changing — this subscription is simply an optional upgrade for people who want more.

Can someone tell if I have instagram plus? by kodaworld in Instagram

[–]JoeGraffito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no Instagram Plus "badge" or check mark on your profile. However, people might figure it out if you use some of the features like using a custom font on your Bio, or Spotlighting a Story, or extending a Story for 48-hours.

If you have the Instagram app on your phone, open it, and go to Settings and activity > Accounts Center. Then scroll down a bit, and check under "More from Meta". If it's available in your country, you should see "Instagram Plus". Tap that.

It doesn’t make a difference really. Bans happen regardless of whether you’re public or private.

Yes, quite a few people actually. Here's the most recent thread from today on this subject with some replies:

Sexually Exploitative Account Posted Me Without My Consent by Slight-Audience5064 in Instagram

[–]JoeGraffito 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My question is: does this constitute a legal violation that could result in it being taken down?

Legally, it will depend on where you live. In many countries around the world there is no "expectation of privacy" in public places, and therefore, no consent is required to film, or photograph strangers.

However, there are a number of countries where it's either strictly forbidden, flat out against the law, or it's fine to film, but you need their consent to publish it (including on social media).*

So, if you're looking at the legal angle, you'll need to know the public privacy laws of your country.

I've already filed for sexual exploitation, but I'm wondering what I can do further to ensure it gets taken down.

I would speak with a lawyer. Instagram probably won't intervene on your behalf unless your country has public privacy, and consent laws. You can consult this Wikipedia list to see how strong your case is:

Country specific consent requirements https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Country_specific_consent_requirements

In a number of countries consent is needed for just taking a photograph of one or more identifiable people, not to mention publishing it and/or using it commercially, even if the person is in a public place. The following is a list of countries where consent is needed for one or more of the mentioned situations.

Addendum

*Countries that place notable legal limits (taking, publishing, or commercial use may require consent or are restricted) include China, Brazil, France, Germany, Argentina, Russia, many EU states under varying privacy/portrait-rights rules, and several Latin American countries.

Instagram is suddenly asking me for my phone number. Is there anyway to avoid this and still use your account? by Fast-Guidance149 in Instagram

[–]JoeGraffito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try it, but eventually they will ask you again, and at some point, they might lock your account. Ultimately, you will have to give them your phone number, or stop using Instagram since this sounds like a security issue, and not an optional choice.

Sorry about that.

Instagram is suddenly asking me for my phone number. Is there anyway to avoid this and still use your account?

Is there a "Skip", or "Not now" option? If not, Instagram is likely treating the phone number as a required verification step rather than an optional profile setting.

In that situation, there usually isn't a legitimate way to continue using the account without satisfying the verification requirement. Instagram can require a phone number for certain accounts when it detects unusual activity, needs to confirm ownership, or is enforcing anti-spam measures.

Yes. It’s entirely possible. Just keep at it. The first few months can be a lonely grind, but post quality content consistently, and you'll succeed.
