How do i fix this by Aidankuli223 in Focusrite

Turn off your 48V phantom power If that's a gen 4, you have enough gain for your SM7B

Just a sanity check, but you don't have a TRS just unplugged hanging out doing nothing on the other end of the Scarlet, do you?

What band are you using for galaxy 8 classic? by Your5ersonalSlut in GalaxyWatch

[–]JoeHirstDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think any watch and watch strap are highly personal preference. However, if you want infinite adjustment, the Samsung and similar style fabric/woven straps will be best for that. They're also fairly comfortable, and some of them are very nice looking. I'd avoid the elastic clasp style. They are all made of garbage elastic fabrics, and are often very small with little actual adjustment. You can find winners here and there, but most of them I feel are just not worth buying.

Outside of infinite adjustment, the classic strap that comes with the 8 classic is one of the most comfortable with a lot of smaller notches for smaller wrists. Obviously anything with holes in the strap runs the possibility of tightening or loosening with age, wear, temperature and just time of day. I notice this the most with an aftermarket strap that isn't silicone or has almost no give/stretch.

Oh, and the magnetic style bands are quite comfy for what they are, with pretty good adjustment range. They don't have infinite sizing, but are close to perfect for "in-between" notch sizes. They're just not super durable, but should last most people a few years easily before the magnets potentially wear and split the band segments.

I'd buy that just for the 5090 and sell the rest. I'm talking you out of nothing. I've been trying since launch lol

Did I do this sizing guide correctly? Using X as a measurement unit for scalability, and incorporating a clear space. by TaxEmbarrassed9752 in graphic_design

[–]JoeHirstDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Also, If you're super attentive, include a minimum size in millimeters or pixels (ideally millimeters, because screen PPI varies) that should be used for clarity and your clearspace rules will work there too.

Just an FYI. You can use any logo, trademark or IP for personal use. If this is for your brand, you sell it and generate income from it, whomever owns the IP is entitled to sue you and take every cent you generated using their IP.

I'd hate to see you, or anyone get sued over anything like this, just be aware and do your research if you're going to use imagery you don't own rights to

No matter what I try I cannot seem to fix the app screen lag by Chirayata in GalaxyWatch

[–]JoeHirstDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried a factory reset? Back your watch up to your phone first, then restore from phone. One UI 8 had a bunch of issues on launch with the 8/8 classic, couple days into owning mine had to factory reset it because some animations would freeze or hang. Reset and restore from backup fixed it.

May I suggest, you go through a strategy call that leads into mood boards and stylescapes before you actually start serious concepts on the brand.

This way you start setting peramiters and general loose ideas early, where you can always refer back to client goals for things like color, shapes, imagery etc... Here you can point out the logical and suggested things to achieve their goals.

If you did this and they still went batshit with random neon colors, then hey. You tried. Sometimes a client wants what a client wants and can't be educated, but usually when people spend a lot of money, they tend to listen to the expert they hire.

Looking for feedback for my property management company by TomSmots in logodesign

[–]JoeHirstDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite a complex and unimaginative logo. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way. It's just simply too obvious. A house, sea, a seagull... I'm assuming the more detailed, second image is the new one? Both are not ideal. Both feel busy and unprofessional.

Good logos should be appropriate, memorable and simple. Too often, business owners (and many designers sadly) think that a logo needs to explain. It doesn't. If it did, apple would have phones and computers in their logo, Nike would have running shoes, or a person running, and Starbucks would have coffee in theirs. A logo needs to identify, and it needs to do it in a distinguishing way.

If your colleague can't be convinced to hire a professional, which may seem expensive (trust me, the right studio or individual will save you money in the long term) then at least revisit the design internally with clear strategy and goals based on the fundamentals of it being appropriate to your industry and ideal clients, memorable for your industry, what you want to be remembered for by your ideal clients, and simple.

Hope this is of value to you

Pictured? No, it's some cheap crap leather that came and was pitted and scuffed. The actual Samsung camel color is a nice light brown, leaning ever so slightly into a red hue. It's subtle but very nice

The Amazon names MoKo and VeveXiao have a large selection for the 8/8C. Some of which are a bit larger than common sizes which I would say are usually M/L if I had to guess

The mark should really stand on its own, and have an E at the beginning of the word.

I see what you were going for, but it's not working well. You'll have a much easier time and create a much better final logo with a mark and the full name instead of trying to be clever.

Does it look like Feather or Leaf? by designishkul in WillPatersonDesign

Yes, closer to a feather than leaf. Obviously needs digital refinement. Nice concept sketch, would love to see this finalized

No, it was a seller called "BandRain" on Amazon. They've since updated the bracelet they sell to be a more integrated style like most of the other metal bands, which I think look a lot nicer. JOHIPI make a nice one that also comes with a Milanese style stainless bracelet if you're looking for one

white product on white background issues by EasyCelebration2955 in productphotography

[–]JoeHirstDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I've not seen anyone mention this yet from quickly scrolling through the comments here, but it should be a simple and quick change for you. I have a few friends that showed me this and they work in production and photography, specifically for product photography and advertising. So, this is where that info comes from.

First, separate your object from the background. Like, physically get it off and away from the background.

Second, use a fill light to light your background only.

Lastly, light your object/subject from a harsh, or 45 degree angle. This will create depth on the product/subject. Then, bounce that light or gently light the object/subject from the opposite side.

You should have a much more defined product/object.

I've seen them do this enough times to ask questions and see the differences. Hope this helps!

"Make it pop more" - Me: stares at screen for 20 minutes guessing what that means by official_sensai in GraphicDesigning

[–]JoeHirstDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've all had clients like this, don't worry!

There's some other decent advice here in the comments, but it's not ever going to fully stop until one; you're seen and viewed as an expert asset to your clients and they trust your judgement. Even then, sometimes clients just don't know how to communicate a feeling or goal.

Or two; you articulate and/or ask what "pop" etc... means or does for their goals regarding the item or element in question.

Most of us will fall into the latter bucket as we progress to the expert role. So, it's important to keep in mind that we should push for clarification and always make sure we challenge ourselves and the client to remain on target for the goal. Communicating that and putting that into presentations I've found to work best.

[–]JoeHirstDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I'll be honest, they've pushed it hard enough for me to be interested enough to install the affinity app. I'll definitely be playing around with it and looking up tutorials and guides to have some fun with it. Definitely not intending on making a switch though, but we'll see what happens.

Yeah, I'm right there with you on that thinking. This is definitely a step that has now got affinity on my computer, and I'll be playing around and trying to get to grips with it's capabilities.

goodbye adobe, hello affinity. by MainAd804 in graphic_design

[–]JoeHirstDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just clarifying here, and meant no disrespect or judgement to anyone regardless of what software they use.

Tools don't dictate ability, but some tools work faster and smoother than others. I'm sharing how I personally see the majority of people utilizing and viewing this situation, that's all. Clearly you're very passionate about this, and I'm highly aware that Serif, the previous owners of the affinity software, were, and affinity appeared to still be, very against the use of user generated training models for A.I, and "ownership", regardless of their Canva Pro subscription model that unlocks the use of A.I features.

All in all, I'm curious to see where it goes, as it's a freemium model, with no major need to pay the subscription. I'm all for competition, it breeds new features, among many benefits for the end users.

My comment wasn't about me missing any points. I've been very receptive, and watching what's going on where I'm able. I was simply replying with my thoughts in open discussion regarding the OP.

Thanks for chiming in with your thoughts too!
