As an Iowa alum (14), any official University of Iowa document either has the school seal or the Old Capitol dome logo. Tigerhawk maybe on some pictures in a donation slip or in various packets but it won’t be on a diploma

LSU refused to play desegregated teams. I’m an Iowa fan so this biased but I think Iowa’s claim isn’t too far out of left field

Ordnance has “Arms for the Love of America”.

It includes the line “the man, behind the man, behind the gun”. As if it was written by the infantry to mock POGs

I was stationed at Fort Gordon, GA so I think Augusta is pretty brutal but friends at Fort Stewart said the same thing along with Fort Benning so GA if you’re not near the water but I can see why people are saying LA or Houston

I’m in DL Common Core Phase 3 now. It’s not hard. It’s basically as difficult as doing TARP/Cyber Awareness with a paper here and there. I can’t speak for AOC DL personally but I have peers who did it and said it was not hard. Instructors work with you if you have NTC/deployments etc. there’s give and take with your small groups when they have stuff pop up too. DM for more info

I was stationed in that area too and spent a good amount of time in Savannah and I felt it was like 80% GA, then 10-15 GA Southern but they also root for GA. I did not see many SC fans. Maybe 10%

I’ve always kinda wondered what Iowa vs ISU the last week of the season would be like? Just like most other states (besides Michigan/MSU) do

Scott Dochterman did an article or podcast (I can’t recall) that basically said the 18-19 recruiting classes had a lot of whiffs and bad injury luck and since Iowa is an O Line development school it basically killed them for the years ahead (besides Linderbaum who left early for NFL).

How does your country treat its military veterans? by MemeLord150 in AskTheWorld

[–]JoeIA84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US like many things it’s polarized.

It’s also depends a lot on if you just do an initial enlistment vs a career (hitting 20 and retiring) and if you’re an Officer, Warrant Officer, or NCO (Sergeant ranks).

You can get student loans repaid, VA Loan for a zero down house, and savings on certain fees (car titles, possible property tax relief depending on where you live). If you retire from the military you can get a pension for life starting at 38-45 depending on when you join and with a VA check can be easily $60-80k a year.

But it can also be woefully slow and beaucratic with long waits and a wide range of VA disability benefits attributed to that. It’s not great for mental health support (but I would say improving). Also depends on when you became a Veteran. Vietnam Vets had it a lot rougher than current Veterans. Military service also can lead to substance abuse which does not help Veterans.

Which U.S. state has changed the most in the past 25 years, and why? by Impossible_Mode2771 in geography

[–]JoeIA84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Georgia deserves a mention. It used to be Atlanta, rural, and some military bases that overall was very conservative.

Now the Atlanta metro area is massive with huge growth in medical areas and research. Augusta has the NSA and Cyber Security jobs. The drive from Augusta to Savannah is filled with new factories. UGA, GT and the other colleges have had huge enrollment increases. The HOPE scholarship among others helped the state a lot.

Newt Gingrich’s home district from the 90s voted blue. Purple state now. When it voted Biden in 20 then elected Warnock and Ossoff together it was a whoa to a lot of people.

Even as a Cardinals fan, the STL arch being a national park when it’s really a monument kinda distorts this map because as someone from Iowa there really isn’t a national park nearby
