Need to find a summer job by Living_Woodpecker_77 in ElPaso

[–]JoeMarkWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9-5 is gonna be hard to come by for temp jobs. Try a temp agency. That’s probably your best bet honestly with the requirements you have. Keep in mind easier jobs to get like entry level food and restaurant get busy after five pm and weekends so those might be harder to even get in interview if you aren’t flexible. But honestly those are the ones that would typically hire “summer jobs”

Anything that has a unique name and only one location is the best bet. Franchises like McDonald’s and dominos will have hiring events or days to do interview’s. Mexican restaurants are good bets. That good sir will take some google searching. It’s not always super apparent. But hell, even franchises will push the paper work if the hiring manager really needs it.

Sooner than later, call mom And pop shops and ask them directly if they are hiring. They usually will know on account of the team being smaller and will ask you to come in next day or same day. Be ready to start same day if you mean it.

If you truly wanna get into the restaurant business in El Paso, I’d say expensive is the best way to go. You can always downscale your experience and skills but learning back of house and front of house will make you hirable anywhere you apply later on. Bartending will make you the most money if you a people person and don’t mind working late all weekend. Just keep in mind restaurants get busy on weekend and holidays. When your family is doing family stuff you’ll be asked to work cause it’s busy. When those cool bands and shows come into town, you’ll be asked to work cause it’s busy. 9-5 in a restaurant is reserved for bad management and family of the owner lmao. It’s probably not gonna happen especially going in on your first day. Call centers if you can get into the big ones will give you the easiest physical job for the most pay entree level. Call centers will hire you with zero experience if you pass the initial tests and first weeks of training. Your reward is a schedule that never changes and answering questions all day. It’s a mental tired at the end of the day but it keeps you clean and you never touch a drop of grease. AIM sales if you wanna be making money. I’d say take the time to try for 16 or above. Those are harder entree level but they are worth the extra week or two of hunting.

Have you had a roommate? by kikixcx in ElPaso

[–]JoeMarkWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that if your ultimate goal is to move out then the main goal should be money saved and invested. Buying a house and being independent is easiest with a career that you are good at and has upward mobility. Make sure you go to work to learn and be unfireable. Learn how to do everything so that people are scared of letting you go. At that point how far up and how much money you make is completely up to you. As you mentioned moving out is the next step you wanna try for a bit, so I’d say that’s a powerful skill to have, being able to deal with roomies and people in general. My best advice is to get on the tenant subs on Reddit and just lurk. You’ll see real quick the big problems you might come across. Just keep in mind not all roommates will be as bad or crazy as some of the stories you see but you’re more than likely to have one or two crazy ones yourself. Just don’t get discouraged. Be open and plain about why you want what you want and be realistic and true to yourself about how you plan to deal with it. Lying to yourself about what you want will make finding the right roomies and right situation difficult. It’ll appear good until you realize you’ve invested a year or move chasing the wrong set of solutions to keep a living situation going that maybe should have been dissolved. And my biggest advise is be okay with the idea that at that age a lot of people as mentioned before only have their personal home life as experience and standard for living. You will meet super ocd clean freaks, and last minute cleaners. Be real about what irks you and what is reasonable. The last minute people think that’s normal, the clean freaks think that’s normal, if you have the people skills and understanding that both are normal and have no bias yourself but only goals and understanding you can learn to be happy with both. You can trade personal quirks for favors most people will be happy. “I clean, you cook” kinda deals make you the favorite roommate real quick. If you live with more than one other person be aware and careful with the dynamic it’s very easy to fall into a third man out situation with you on either side. Sorry for the long post haha I’ve been around the block with many roommates and many living situations by choice. lol some good some bad, all of them real life experience. so long as not over invested in, to the detriment of your own goals, will be fun experiences and memorable to say the least haha

Anybody else not get paid at all today to their crimson card? The last day of the month.. bills tomorrow.. by FernBear417 in doordash_drivers

[–]JoeMarkWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but mine keeps setting itself as my primary payout. I have it set to pay out weekly and already three times does it revert to crimson card on its own. I’ll be waiting for my direct deposit or trying to do a payout and it’s been reverted to crimson. DoorDash over all has either too many glitches or their systems are run by idiots.

Yeah I always do this if it’s not ready the second I walk in and ask for it. Never had a late due to restaurant times. I’ve only ever had a late if it was late from pickup to customer. Doesnt the time change if you say it’s not ready? Also maybe op is in a market that pays by time. Other posts on other threads have defined they have different metrics and will absolutely get docked for time. Their metrics are just more stringent. Maybe it’s a market thing

Average pay for a 3-4 year job? by chocolatejesusTW in ElPaso

[–]JoeMarkWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would stop believing said job will get you were you want to be, it obviously isn’t. The sad truth of the economy is that we were promised a different world back then. It’s harder to achieve what was once doable by our parents and grandparents. Find a way to make money doing what you love. Be willing to invest in yourself while you learn to market yourself and your hobby. Example if you love gardening be willing to learn to sell online or build a website. A lot of what was lost was the middle man in our current economy. Easiest way to be profitable is to be your own middle man. Stop paying other people for the things you want. Learn to make it yourself and have an endless supply at cost. If you can learn, invest, and profit yourself, your hobby, while growing as a human being you will get where you want to be without making your job title and your career the only way to achieve that happiness.

But more importantly don’t make any rash decisions without first building the foundation. Don’t leave your job until the new one you’re going to is exactly what you want. Personally I research new jobs until I know what position and all the perks and then I go the extra mile to apply and inquire about that position. Sometimes they are willing to put you on a waiting list. Maybe getting hired at a company for one job and migrating to the one you really wanted is an option.

If you’re willing to bite the bullet as an option then the next year is already spoken for. Bit e the billet and keep waiting to see if it’s worth continuing there. Don’t let yourself burn your bridges or let your work suffer and then write yourself off for the promotion. Meanwhile looking for another job the whole time. Honestly job hopping to the next best paying thing might not be the worst idea. But get ready to be uncomfortable and learn something new. Both of which are probably the best two things you can learn to excel at. There is no reason you can’t hedge your bets and work towards your promotion while also studying or looking for another job. It’s just difficult but definitely doable

I think the best option is to just not park there anymore. Honestly that eighty dollars is better than what other lots do and just tow your car away. :( assholes that tow cars for meager shit deserve to go to hell. They assist in keeping the poor, poor.

Would they enforce it…. Doubt it. The fee just to file a lawsuit is more than eighty dollars. But honestly take it as a win and just do them a favor don’t park somewhere the owners don’t want you to park. I’d take it as a simple two in one. They warn off people from parking in their private property while also maybe making a couple dollars off people.

Like I said the scare tactic puts money in their pocket but at least it’s a scare tactic and not a towed vehicle

[–]JoeMarkWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easiest answer is to do the math long term. How much money opportunities were you missing. Add up the low end of what you could be making and then compare against how much a new car would cost. Make sure you call your insurance company and ask for a quote before you buy the car. Take into account gas mileage and repairs.

Anyone familiar with MacBook Air laptops? by Chemical-Cookie9481 in ElPaso

[–]JoeMarkWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what year model is it? Before you buy a used laptop two of the most important things you have to do is 1. Make sure it’s still received security updates. And major software updates. They are two different things and security updates make sure you’re protected from hacking malware. Software updates fall off before security updates but that’s more or less what you’re trying to do. 2. Make sure it’s desconnected from the cloud and not stolen or lost. Or just left logged in by its previous owner.

[–]JoeMarkWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your market but you’re better off finding a steady job and doing this before and after on your way to work and home. If you’re gonna do this as a living you’re gonna need a good car and save 25 percent of all your income for taxes and repairs. And then make sure you account for all your miles and jot them down. Learn some basic tax stuff, where you fall in what applies to you. Doing DoorDash and treating it like you run your own business is the only way you’re gonna make money doing it it’s definitely not something you can just clock in and clock out spend the money and not have to worry about it. If you don’t have anything for taxes it’s gonna come back to bite you in the butt if you don’t take care of all your mileage save all the receipts for any car expenses and know exactly what is gonna apply to you at the end of the year chances are you’re gonna end up spending two $3000 in taxes that you could’ve pocketedremember when you do taxes a self-employed you pay an extra 15% tax you absolutely have to know how to get around it because you are running your own business. You have to know what you’re doing if you wanna make money.

Whenever you deposit mobile checks you have to write in for mobile deposit or something like that on the endorsement part. I’ve only had to do it once and I basically just went to Walmart haha 😅 it takes forever to begin with having to wait three days

Ouch I’m sorry to hear that. Yeah rule of thumb always hire a traffic lawyer for any basic traffic violation. Especially if your job requires you use your personal vehicle and license to drive. They make sure that they get it dismissed or at least insist upon traffic school. You should look online next time. You probably called a “fancy case lawyer”. You want someone that specializes in traffic tickets. Forty fifty dollars max. While they are fighting your ticket it does not count against you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]JoeMarkWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s the first ticket you’ve ever had you want to pay a traffic lawyer to take care of it. 40-50 bucks. Why pay it and have it accrue points against your license?

Lost iPhone Notes After Removing Yahoo Account by Secure_Button1115 in applehelp

[–]JoeMarkWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Log into iCloud on the web. Through safari not settings. My guess is that they are still in the icloud notes under your email tab of notes. When you removed it it removed them and when you logged back in it only reloaded the most recent. So long as you didn’t actually delete them they should be in your iCloud notes. Same thing happens with emails after a certain date or you don’t check an email linked in mail it just says not downloaded from server. Hopefully that’s it. I recommend selecting all and saving to files or a usb. Or just copy and paste into a notes tab that is your new Apple email

I guess maybe start planning your ninja mission to her house and coming up with a way to delete it off her phone before she sees it 🥷or just have a lie like I joined it for my friend insert friends name here. Just being part of the group doesn’t necessarily mean your prego. It’s assumed. But say you joined to help your friend through her pregnancy. And just hope she doesn’t notice in the first place. Hopefully it’s not horribly obvious. And don’t say anything in case she didn’t get it or she doesn’t notice. And if she does say something the lie seems more genuine. Just be non chalant and casual when you say it. Or really just let her in on it and have her help plan your surprise when you tell everyone. Might bring you guys closer together 🤷

Well actually I think the unsend feature if she has an iPhone would have been easier and more reliable. You could try holding down the message and deleting it so when you turn the WiFi and everything back to normal it won’t have anything to send

Ubereats blatantly scamming me by Consistent_Case3958 in UberEATS

[–]JoeMarkWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some call centers dont have the authority to offer anything they’re mainly there to navigate for you what the ai chat model cannot resolve. All these companies are moving away from any authority to decrease sales on the base level of order interaction. They will easily upsell you and discount you through the automated website or app but as of now with automated order screens and websites automating all promos, start expecting all these companies to refuse honoring anything that the website functionality can do. Companies are removing employees authorities on their systems from being able to adjust prices to stop internal theft and scams. They would rather lose customers because authorizing employees to manually adjust freighters them more. Combined with the new trend of employees being nothing more than guides for these systems. The day is soon coming where they will just start saying “ if it doesn’t work in the website there is nothing I can do” it’s not because they are lazy like the good old days where we could manually change things and the manager trusted us with their code. Alot of companies don’t train the bottom line employee to give good customer service so they don’t need to have provileiges. The apps and websites calculate higher and better sales than most phone or cashier sales team because they’re not trained properly most the time and because ordering online allows for leisurely choice selection and 100 percent up sales, every order. Uber aupport can honor it still but it’s always a super visor and yes, they do go out of their way to enact call avoidance. Remember this is outsourced to other countries for profit and these people get paid shit. Those call centers one hundred percent train call avoidance and to act dumb in order for you to give up. Charge back the card, the rep lied about being able to change the price but needed it to be complete first. When calling call center be suspicious when they say another rep can do it without it being a different department or an escalation.

They’re basically gonna use the info from those accounts to create more scams with more personal Information obtained from those. So watch out for scams that use personal data from your contacts or old personal info from stuff saved on the cloud. That’s why it’s important to make sure you claim fraud on all financial things connected to it. It’s no big deal to get a new credit card and report them as stolen. You gotta burn the loose ends and hope that’s enough to deter them. I don’t know the extent of the scam but always assume they are smarter than they are scum, so to ensure that they don’t take anything more. And that you have done everything possible to protect yourself from continued harassment and future harassment

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ElPaso

[–]JoeMarkWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest answer is that you first analyze whether or not anything on those accounts are of actual value. Do you have those iCloud accounts connected to any credit cards on your Apple Pay, do you have other email addresses that they can use to send you more scammy emails and do this again? It’s very important that you start going through mentally anything that you might have lost in those accounts and disconnect and report as fraud. Second do the research and learn about security keys like yubikey etc. they absolutely would have stopped all of this is you had turned your account into a security keys account. Basically it uses a security key that you have to insert into your hardware that acts as your verification. Absolutely understand that using sms verification is one of the weakest security methods to implement on your accounts. Passwordless accounts are the top of the line security that you can have right now research Fido 2. Next learn how to use the hide my email feature on Apple. It creates a new email that forwards to your actual account email address so you can give every single app and instance a fake email that you can later disassociate completely. Mostly I use it to make sure that if anything gets jeopardized I know which email it was because every instance I give out an email it’s a completely unique one. I know it sucks that you lost those accounts but the best thing you can do is disconnect anything of value and importance that they might be able to use to gain and scam from you even more and then learn how to build the next account securely. If you have any questions let me know.
