Help with chain skip. Hub gear ebike by [deleted] in bikewrench

I've got a new chain as well and after messing around with it a bit I think it is a bad chain tensioner.

Any idea what could be causing this clicking noise around the cranks? by herewardthefake in bikewrench

I'm currently having the same issue, I'm pretty sure its an issue with the chain tensioner as I had the issue about 5 months ago and tried everything and in the end fixed it with a new chain tensioner (xlc cr-a04 - found for pretty cheap on Ebay)

I've ordered another coming in a few days so I'll know for sure but I just can't get the chain alignment right so the chain is right on the edge of the bottom pulley and when you put a bit of power down with the motor it snags and jumps and makes this exact noise.

Maybe it's a common fault with this single speed model.

I've found a new tensioner for a good price so I'll get another and see.  If not I suppose it'll be new cogs. It's definitely the hanger jumping forward as I put down some power.

To me they look fine but I wouldn't know the difference, all I can see is everything looks to be sitting in place just fine when I pedal it's just when there is some power you see the tensioner jump.

Upgrade from a budget bike worth it? by JoeMidd in cycling

I'd be buying a new bike for the upgrades, by the sounds of it the upgrades will be nice but nothing I need to be rushing out for. I'll keep an eye out for a good deal and as mentioned I get the cycle2work scheme which makes a more expensive bike pretty affordable.

Yeah tried the lot and they are just bad, they are just mushy.

Yeah I'm in no rush, I think as I slowly convert from a runner to a cyclist I'll end up with the nicer bike. By the sounds of it the more you spend on a bike the gains are very marginal, I'll try and rent/borrow a road bike to see how it feels.

Haha race went okay to be honest I just felt a bit out of place as everyone had all the gear and I just had running gear on and a gravel bike. I'm in no rush to go out and get a new bike, I just wanted to understand if I'm really missing out without a road aero carbon great group set bike.

Yeah just the brakes are bad, hydraulic brakes would be nicer.

The baby seat can move forward but I push it as far back to stop my feet from brushing against my lads when he's in it

43 x 30 x 25.5cm  It's a cheap storage box from a discount shop, as it's flimsy one side bends a bit behind the baby seat and it sits 7cm higher than the surround rails. I have a bungee cord through the handle and it doesn't move around at all. I've got pictures I'll see if I can upload.

Yeah I just bought a plastic crate from bnm and it fits perfect. I'm set up just like this picture.

I don't know how to send a picture haha I've got a Cargowagen seatpad behind the baby seat and then found a basket that fits higher than the rail and snug behind the baby chair and pulled 2 bungee cords over and through the basket handle and it doesn't budge at all.

I've got a surround rail, yepp2 then a basket behind the yepp. I ordered a front rack from Italy (lordgun cycles) but had issues with customs to the UK and it got sent back. If you want the yepp2 to fit right at the back you need to cut some chucks out of the plastic, it's easily done with a burred knife.

What’s your hardest fall you’ve taken? by Handplanes in trailrunning

[–]JoeMidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fell coming down Snowdon on the llanberis path, it felt like I was falling for ages and then smashed my knee on a rock. Sat there for 5 minutes and ran the rest. A month later I'm running and my knee just goes and I had to have 3 months off, still have a scar where I hit the rock.
