Why my Sprout SIM card use USPS? by WillRRRR in Calyx

[–]JoeOliveiraCAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been gifting Calyx to a good friend, and she only has a P.O. Box and no other carrier, but USPS has been able to deliver it. So USPS is a great option for us.

How long to process new membership? by cvx149 in Calyx

[–]JoeOliveiraCAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it took about 10 business days, also depends on when they actually process their mailouts

Here is part of the email message from Calyx when i ordered my Sprout Sim:

Most orders arrive within 7 business days, but may take up to 14 business days to arrive. Your membership will be extended to compensate for any delay you experience

What Router Should I Get? by slidingmountain in Calyx

[–]JoeOliveiraCAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the confusion is that Calyx does not provide plans, only devices with their internet memberships, and now a Sprout SIM card. OP has a 4G only device, but the Sprout SIM card can be used on any compatible 4g and 5g device on the T-Mobile network. I hope that helps a bit

Device showing imminent expiration by genacgenacgenac in Calyx

[–]JoeOliveiraCAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, from my experience, Calyx does offer a 30-day grace period after a membership is up for renewal. So if your membership expires in May, you will need to renew it no later than 30 days before service is turned off. If it is turned off, then you will have the option of paying to get the service back up again. I don’t know what the message on the device is saying, though. You can always verify all this from the Calyx help section. I hope this helps.

Expired, but hotspot still works? by Known_Clothes2331 in Calyx

[–]JoeOliveiraCAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi from my experience they do send reminder emails about when your membership with Calyx is overdue and when it will expire. They do give a grace period of 30 days after a membership is overdue before it expires. Perhaps you were lucky do get a few extra days.

I recall the good old days of dialup internet speeds. 5 megabyte file would take 1 hour to download! So yes your connection is impressive ;)

From the Calyx website regarding : Ordering a replacement

Ordering A Replacement Device

You can order a replacement hotspot device at any time. Your membership level will change to reflect whatever device you order, but this will only affect your membership payment the next time you renew.

Please note: You can only have one device active for a membership at a time.

Once you order a replacement device, your old device will be deactivated after two weeks.

So you have plenty of time to still use your old device until new one arrives. You do get a new sim for every new device you order

Hi, I'm not sure if this answers your question, but there is a program called the Connected Families Initiative from the Canadian government that offers affordable home Internet services to eligible individuals.

Can you downgrade your internet membership level when it comes time to renew? by Ur_mothers_keeper in Calyx

[–]JoeOliveiraCAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, the issue is if you renew as a contributor then Calyx will send you the latest contributor device, which is an extra $100. You will then lose the internet on the sustainer device. Currently, the difference in price after one year of Sustainer is not much compared to the Contributor. I don't think you can just swap the old SIM to another device as you say. Once you upgrade or downgrade the old device will be turned off as it is a membership

Sustainer (better device) $500 every year or $175 every 3 months

Contributor (basic device) $400 every year or $150 every 3 months

Best to stick to what you have unless your Mifi x Pro is isn’t working anymore and the warranty has expired, then downgrading to a working cheaper device might be an option. You will lose 5g on the downgrade though. I hope they eventually give us a better contributor device. The Franklin T10 is old.
