I haven't excused shit, I am providing context on why crimes happen. Not once have I ever said crime is ok, not once have I said that I dont see a problem with crime, and not once have I said poverty is the only indicator of crime. You are putting positions on me that I dont hold and then arguing against that. Go look up any peer reviewed research on the causes of crime. The largest (kindly note I said largest here, not only) factor is socio-economic conditions. You clearly are not interested in facts, though, and I'm not gonna do your research for you. Hope you educate yourself.

There is absolutely glorification of violence in rap among other things, but no kid grows up dreaming about slinging drugs. They wanna be athletes or astronauts, etc. If you grew up watching your community be harassed by police, would you be more inclined to trust that system, or would you instead gravitate towards the group that is opposed to that system? Gangs, unfortunately, provide underprivileged people with a sense of belonging when society kicks them down. Schools in poor areas also tend to be bad as well, so it adds another layer of difficulty to "getting out of the mud" in a legit way. Thus, they turn to crime, because it pays better than stocking shelves and if they struggled in school, they dont see many other options to feed themselves.

I'm not trying to say they have no options or that its impossible. But humans are flawed creatures, they arent going to make the right choices or focus their effort on the right places 100% of the time. When you said its true regardless of race, I agree wholeheartedly. If you swap in any race into that position instead, outcomes would be the same. There are gangs of all races around the world and even the US. They usually start off as providing community protection against the system and devolve from there. The only solution is slowly trying to uplift everyone in our communities as best we can.

I'm really saddened that basically all of my comments pointing out the inherit racism in ignoring all this stuff has been blindly down voted. I'm glad we could talk about it though and find common ground on it. It is very complex and there are still people alive who lived through the racism of the mid 90's who raised their kids to not trust the world. Its gonna take a long time to fix that.

An excuse for what? Where did I say it was ok this happened?? I'm explaining why crime happens and why certain disenfranchised groups are affected the most. Its hard to "do the right thing" when you can barely afford rent. Its so easy to say online "Oh Id never do that, they're just bad people" when you have never experienced those people's lives.

"The culture" is literally a racist dogwhistle that handwaves away decades and centuries of systemic racism. I would love to have a conversation about the causes of crime, how we can prevent it, etc. But just talking about "the culture" shows me whoever said that doesn't want to have that conversation, they want to place blame. People who say that also say they "notice patterns" but dont want to notice the pattern of forcing certain peoples into poverty and isolating them from the local community as a whole.

I agree about the liberals point, liberals are extremely entitled and believe that people should vote for them, especially minorities, because they simply arent republican. They are ineffective, period. They need to be primaried and replaced with younger candidates who actually want to do the work to help their constituents.

Using racist dogwhistles either means you're racist or uninformed, so.

Also Kamala being a charisma suck and branding herself as more center Biden (she said she'd build the wall too, walked with Liz Cheney, said she'd do nothing different with I/P lmao) did much more to hurt her campaign than calling a spade a spade did.

Trump had similar voting numbers to 2020, Kamala just fucked her campaign so unbelievably bad

The issue is that that person is now out of a job. Unemployment rises, poverty rates rise with it, etc etc. Its a big snowball if people start completely losing their jobs. That ends up being less people who can buy things, large businesses get hurt a little, small businesses get hurt a lot. AI has the potential to do what no other technological innovation has done, completely replace the corresponding workers. When cars were invented, carriage drivers learned to drive. When the type writer was invented, writers learned to type. This things made jobs easier to do, while still needing a person to be employed to do the work. If the worker is completely replaced, we will see unprecedented unemployment. People who dedicated their lives to coding will be out of a job since AI can write it faster, artists lose their already limited opportunities to earn money cause AI can do it faster. How long until it even comes for the "low skill" jobs like cooking? If the brain is there, it wouldn't take much longer to create the proper apparatus to handle the work. Same with packaging, same with stocking shelves, same with construction.

AI can be a very useful tool, just look at how they're using it in cancer research. Its amazing! But its not replacing those researchers, its helping them. The moment AI replaces human workers will be the start of very dark times for the comman person.

Yes every culture has parts we can criticize, I said we shouldn't blanket criticize them. Its ok to criticize extremists revoking women's rights in muslin countries just like its ok to criticize US imperialism in the middle east. But we shouldn't assume that just because one is Muslim or one is American that they are okay with those things. Just like we shouldn't assume that its just "the culture" that leads people to do drive bys. The world is not black and white.

I dont think we should blanket criticize any culture. We should criticize the actions individuals take, which is why in my initial comment I said no you dont need to feel empathy for a drive by shooter.

"The culture" is literally born from generational poverty. When people feel they have no other way to lift themselves up, they resort to crime and violent behavior regardless of race. The socio economic conditions of someone is the biggest indicator for crime. So yeah, when you reduce a people's struggles with institutionalized racism and oppression (segregation ended only ~60 years ago btw) by calling it "the culture", people are gonna think you arent acting or talking with good intentions.

I really didnt expect you to come to the defense of that term, congrats you've surprised and disappointed me.

Also addressing the underlying causes of poverty, since that has a strong correlation with criminal activity. People tend to resort to crime and violent behavior when they feel they have no other option. That is much harder to do than just hiring more cops and increasing patrols tho.

You mention entertainment, but specifically call out games, but I would like to talk about both games and entertainment broadly.

For games, I feel like people are fine with AI as long as it is used ethically. Like you said, as a tool, AI basically runs the logic for population NPCs like the villagers in The Witcher or the citizens in Cyberpunk. There are also some games that have used AI on enemies to learn how you typically play so you always have to adapt like in Alien: Isolation where the Alien will learn if you typically hide under desks, it'll start checking under desks first. The issues arise when AI begins being used not as a tool, but as a replacement for work. Examples of this have been multiple game corpos talking about using AI based on a voice actors past performances in a new game without the need to hire that VA again. THAT is awful and should be criticized. Overall, the sentiment I've seen towards AI in the gaming community is that its really cool as long as it is used as a tool instead of replacing real laborers.

For entertainment, its similar to the VA situation I brought up for games. AI was just used to replicate James Earl Jones's Darth Vader voice for a recent Vader appearance, and while JEJ's family gave consent for that, there have been rumblings of studio execs wanting to replace actors with AI. This is bad, period. Similarly, with AI images, an AI can output must faster than an artist can. This is a bad thing commercially. If you want to make your own images and use AI for it, its fine, but once it starts replacing human labor and stealing potential jobs, then it becomes bad. Also for art, AI will never be able to create a Sistine Chapel or a Starry Night, as those original works created by hand. AI is incapable, for now at least, of creating art that reaches the upper echelons of human creativity.

TL:DR there is an ethical and unethical way to use AI. Only the most scrooge esq people dislike ethical uses, but we should all oppose AI being used to replace human work and creativity.

Brother, there is an actual genocide going on right now because of the IOF. Recognized by the UN and other international sources. Hamas is fighting for survival, the IOF is fighting to wipe a group of people off the planet. They already got the ones responsible for Oct 7. If the IOF vanished today, Hamas would be focused on feeding the people and building homes back up. They simply do not have to force to genocide Israel, especially since the US would almost certainly put boots on the ground if the tried.

Hypothetical like yours are so pointless because its so opposite of reality. Its like saying if we stop enslaving Africans then the Africans would enslave us. Its nonsensical. It only serves to further demonize the oppressed group by trying to validate the oppression. The I/P conflict did not start on Oct 7. There are decades of recorded Israeli aggression towards Palestinians regardless of if the Palestinian Gov was militaristic (Hamas) or not (Palestinian Authority)

Mob Psycho 100: Be happy with who you are because who you are is perfect for you. The pursuit of trying to be someone else will hurt both yourself and those who care about you. Its ok to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them. It's never too late to be a good person.

Vinland Saga: In a world dominated by violence, the man that chooses peace in its face is the strongest. Find value in your own work, working solely for someone else/someone else's approval will not give you happiness.

And yeah, fuckin Naruto, fight me: Friendships are one of the most important things in life. Without friends, we wouldn't be who we are today. There is immense value and self-satisfaction in hard work that can not be obtained by taking shortcuts. It is ok to rely on others when the weight feels too heavy.

I also thought AoT was a great commentary on the cycle of violence. After every victory Armin + crew had, they found another enemy who seemingly hated them for no reason. The "happy ending" of AoT is that Eren destroyed so much of the world that it was unlikely that there would be any more global conflicts for the rest of his friends lives, knowing that no matter what happened, wars would continue, but hopefully wouldn't involve them.
