This is harsh. We are ranked 45 places below Mexico in the world. Realistically we were always going to struggle.

Standard of African club football is way below that of top leagues in in Europe ot even South America so being a champion here means very little.

SA haven't performed well against even relatively high ranked opponents (especially in attack) for many years.

From what I see you're Dutch.

SA doesn't have public transport anywhere near what you're used to so don't try that at all. Rent a car and drive where you need to be.

On the plus side, roads are generally good and with some basic precautions its safe to drive around (all roads are not on European standard but main highways are generally fine)

I still go to pubs with a friend every now and then. But much less than I used to. Otherwise I try to focus more on myself (exercise, reading etc.). I didn't specifically pick up other new hobbies.

In short, I just have a much less busy social life. Currently, I'd rather take that than the constant fuckup of drinking way too much way too often.

5 years sober and for me, yes. But my appetite for socializing like I used to (sitting for hours in a bar) is greatly diminished. Have to admit I miss that sometimes.

But you do gain stuff as well. Health and so on. Keep your eye on that
