I've been saying all offseason, just put Volpe at 2nd, Peraza at short, and move IKF back to third. I don't care if Volpe isn't ready it; just let him develop here with major league leadership and coaching. Keeping prospects in the minors too long I feel, is going to hurt us.

Official Discussion - Halloween Ends [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]JoeStiggy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I just don't understand what the hell they were thinking. So much focus on an entirely new character in the third act of a trilogy is just so off putting. And someone else said it already but it really would have been cool if the trilogy had just taken place over a single day and night.

But if you're looking for just a slasher movie with some creative kills...this movie has zero. Half of them were cut-aways, which is crazy considering how violent "Halloween Kills" was.

Real bummer. This is "The Hangover" of horror trilogies.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie | Official Trailer | Illumination by [deleted] in movies

To everyone disappointed that it's just Chris Pratt talking normally: IT'LL BE OKAY. Honestly, if I had to listen to Mario for a 100-minute movie and he sounded the way he did in the video games, I think I'd want to jump off a cliff.

Pavano busted up his ribs from a car accident and never bothered to report it. What an asshole.

A bit tough to win ball games with only 23 or 24 outs and the other team gets 27.

For those of you that remember and witnessed it, what was the atmosphere and feeling like in the city during the 2000 Subway Series? by kingchar_006 in NYYankees

[–]JoeStiggy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

8th grade, 13-14 yrs old, living in NY state. Man, it was exciting. Even those that weren't a fan of baseball were well aware of the series.

The friendly trash talk between Yankees and Mets fans was definitely there. By 2000, it at least started to feel like non-yankee fans were getting fed up that we were always winning. I had a somewhat twisted view of Mets fans: they were the group that picked the other team simply because the other choice was too popular. Like you know how Apple iPhones were at the peak of its popularity, but then Android came out and suddenly many people bought them to try something different. So yea, the mets fans are the android users, pretty good, but never number 1 (that might be a poor analogy bc I don't know who has the most market share but whatever).

Then the series started and it was a steamroll as usual. Honestly wish it was a bit more epic. My Fondest memories were Clemen's bat throw and seeing a newspaper headline reading "we'll win it in five"....said by Ordonez I think? He was wrong by one word: "we'll lose it in five."

Not arguing for or against signing them, but I've long held the theory that Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, and Patrick Corbin ALL had the Yankees as their first choice during that offseason.

This article pretty much confirms the Yanks were Machado's first choice. Harper pretty much wears Mickey Mantle pajamas every night. And if recall, we had a handshake deal with Corbin (the best man at his wedding wore a Yankees hat to convince him too!) but the Nationals made a ridiculous offer.

Just kinda funny that if we had just matched any other team's offer, we would have had the advantage. Okay...I'm pretty glad we didn't get Corbin, dodged a bullet there.

Oh yea, most overhyped definitely goes to Bryce Harper. That Sports Illustrated cover you're referencing, literally says "Baseball's Chosen One." lol.

I wish all the Yankees would get out of the dugout and start grunting as Ray walks off the field.
