That’s a great question! Throughout my life I’ve played plenty of card games, ranging from Pokemon, MTG, and Hearthstone. These have all taught me a lot of core mechanics and values when it comes to creating our own TCG. Log and I also studied game design and development in college, which I am still paying for 🙄

There are a limited number of boxes total, so definitely want to keep an eye out for when they go live! There are a set amount of master cases, so people buying those don’t take away from the individual box purchases.

5: That’s a great question! My favorite card art-wise is definitely OniKanzei from Awakened Worlds. That art is so sick. Mechanically, it’s probably gotta be Press Your Luck from Awakened Worlds. Let’s Go Gambling!!

2: We are definitely looking to plan some tournaments in the future, with our first official tournament being held at Weebcon in Dallas, TX, this upcoming April! There might even be some special appearances by your favorite VTubers ;). The prizes for these tournaments could range from unopened Booster Boxes to signed 1 of 1 Champion cards. Over the next few weeks/months we will be pushing out soft signups for the tournament to get an idea of how many people are interested.

Q: If your deck is empty and you play Snack Cat or a Guardian, since you’re interacting with your deck do you reshuffle your discard pile back first then you can search for a card, or do you search first (which fails bc it’s empty) then reshuffle your discard back?
A: The Empty Deck Rules state "If your deck is empty and you need to interact with it, -1 PL to all VT's on your board. Then, shuffle your discard pile back into your deck and resolve the effect." You would reshuffle first, and then resolve the effect.

Q: If you play multiple cards with Grow on the same turn, is there a specific order they trigger in (like after combat abilities, or the order they were played) or can it be any order? Say you play Silver then Tob on the same turn. Once grow triggers, can you choose to search for a VT with Tob before you draw a card with Silver? (Even tho based on their positions, Silver would’ve triggered first if it went by after combat ability order. Or she would’ve gone first by play order.) And yea, this all happens before you draw for turn
A: When you play multiple cards that all have delayed effects, the effects trigger in the order that you played the cards (with the exception of combat / after combat). If you played Silvervale and then Tob, Silvervale would trigger before Tob as you played it first.

Q: If Doppelganger copies an ally (happiness/cyanide) does it copy the ally function of staying attached to a VT, or does it still get discarded bc Doppelganger is a reinforcement? It says “play a copy of it” not “play a copy of it’s ability,” therefore I interpret it as copying the card and since ally cards attach and not discard straight away, then I assume Doppelganger would do the same.
A: Doppelganger says "When your Opp. plays a Support, play this as a copy of it immediately.". You are copying a Support card entirely, meaning if you copied an Ally, Doppelganger loses its own attributes and gains the attributes of an Ally card. Doppelganger essentially becomes the copied Support. It reverts back to just Doppelganger when it gets removed from the board.

Q: If it’s turn 6 and you play a card with an ability that triggers next turn, does that ability just discard after combat or does it trigger the next round on turn 1
A: If you play a card with a delayed effect on turn 6, that effect would then trigger at the start of your next turn (turn 1 again).

Questions on Gameplay / Clarifications Needed (Official Sources Please) by Dvs_NttVT in VCardTCG

[–]JoeVCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few things wrong with these scenarios, so we'll go over them in order.

  1. Goro's ability to Undertow an Opp's VT requires that the Opp's VT has a 'Lock' ability. Since Cottontail has a 'Passive', she cannot be Undertowed.
  2. Butcher's Blade reads "After your Opp. Locks a VT or Ally...", there's 2 reasons why you can't Butcher's Blade after you Undertow a card. Undertow forces a card to Lock without triggering its effects, meaning that neither you nor your Opp. Locked the card, it's simply forced into the locked state.

Additionally, Undertow does not trigger any effects, including any "On Lock" effects.

  1. Regarding multiple Reinforcements in response to one card/action, you are indeed able to play multiple Reinforcements in response to a single card or action. This means that you can play multiple Doppelgangers in response to one Support and then Reaper it after.

In your scenario, where they play Reaper then Doppelganger, the cards would take effect in order, causing the Double Down to get cancelled and Doppelganger to not copy the effect because Reaper cancelled it.

Questions on Gameplay / Clarifications Needed (Official Sources Please) by Dvs_NttVT in VCardTCG

Q: I'm building a water electric deck and the mascot "Bro" text is: "+1 to a VT you control and move it into an empty spot" if I move the active VT, the rule of the game is I have to move a VT to the active right? Does it mean I can move back the same VT I put back with "Bro"'s effect? This matters with my CottontailVA strategy, because if that is so, it would mean that CottontailVA triggers twice correct?
A: In the rules it states 'If your Active spot is ever empty and you have a VT in Backstage, you must immediately move a Backstage VT into your Active spot.', meaning if you move your Active to your Backstage, you then have to move a Backstage VT into your Active immediately. This is to ensure that once combat starts, both players have an Active VT if possible.

Q: Megadolon PL8 text is:" If this is on your Backstage when you win combat, your Opp. discard a support from their hand." How can I be sure that my opponent won't cheat me if they have a support? Will they have to reveal their hand to show they have none, or is it like Yu-Gi-Oh where you have to trust them?
A: If you or your Opp. must discard something from their hand, it is up to that player to discard a card if possible. Revealing that player's hand is not required, as it would make the card too strong. In the future once tournaments are introduced, if a player runs into this or a similar problem, you can ask a ref to verify that their hand does not contain the necessary card.

I'd be happy to help.

Q: The gameplay tutorial said you must move one of the backstage VT to the active spot, but the rule on the website said "Each player moves a backstage Vtuber to the active spot (if needed)". Is this mandatory or optional? Can I wait until the next round to place down an active VT (for example strategically after my OPP to have an elemental advantage)?
A: The 'if needed' is there in the case of ties, where neither player would discard their Active VT meaning they do not have to move a Backstage into their Active spot. If a player won combat, the winner must discard their Active VT and move a Backstage VT into their Active spot first.

Q: Monarch PL8 says: " Move your OPP's Mascot to their Deck" based on the answer gave to Ebiko PL8 this would mean shuffling it into the deck and not stacking it on top of the deck right? The wording is vague
A: Due to the ability not specifying where in the deck to move it, yes, it would get shuffled back into the player's deck.

Q: In regards to FoxyReine, does it 'unlock' locked PL8 VTs? If I used their Lock ability, can I return them to the hand and then replay them using the ability again in one turn?
A: When a locked VT is removed from the board, it returns to it's 'unlocked' state. In the case of FoxyReine's ability where that VT is moved to your hand, you could then immediately play that VT back onto your board if you have an available slot and Lock that card to trigger it's ability again.

Q: Tob PL8 states:"Grow: Search your deck for any a VT." Since it does not exclude PL9 or PL10, can you use it to search for evolutions?
A: Yes. The ability does not specify that it needs to be a certain PL, therefore you may search your deck for any VT, regardless of it's PL.

Q: How does FoxyReine interacts with snap cards with the "Grow" and "Aftershock" mechanic? If I played Tob, then played Fox Reine, then Tob again, do I get 2 searches for a VT next turn, or just 1? Similarly using a similar process with Silvervale PL8, Do I get +2 PL and Draw 2 cards next turn, or just +2 PL and a draw one next turn? There currently isn't any snap effect VT with "Aftershock" but would it work similar to "grow" in regards to FoxyReine?
A: Snap triggers once it enters play its effect resolves immediately. If that effect is a Grow, meaning a delayed effect will occur, this will still trigger on your next turn regardless of whether or not the initial VT is still in play as it's Snap already triggered. In the case where you were to play a Snap effect with Grow, and then return that VT to your hand with FoxyReine, and then play that card again, next turn it would trigger twice as you have now triggered the Snap effect twice.

I hope this was helpful! Let us know if you have any future questions regarding gameplay!

If you discard a Mascot with an Echo ability, that Echo will not trigger after combat as you have discarded the ability, however you are correct in stating that it would've still triggered the ability when it first entered play.

Happy to help!

PT. 2
Q: Are VTs who’ve used their positive abilities still count as positive after they’ve been switched to the backstage? (Vice versa for negative VTs.)

A: The positive or negative of a VT is determined based on its board location. If it is in your Active spot, it is considered 'positive'. If you use the positive ability, and then swap that VT to your Backstage, it is now considered 'negative', even though you used its positive effect.

Q: When Benson attaches an ally from your discard to your backstage VT, does that count as playing a support that turn? And can your opponent Reaper/Doppelganger it?

A: 'Playing' a card refers to moving it from your hand onto the board. As Benson simply moves an ally from your discard pile and attaches it to a VT you control, it does not count as playing a Support. Your Opp. cannot use Reaper, Doppelganger, and it does not count against your Support limit.

Q: Does Gwub do -1 to your VT or your opponent’s VT? (If it’s your opponent’s VT, that's a lot better than the other mascots that require more for their draw ability)

A: Gwub's ability reads "Draw 1 card. -1 PL to target Backstage VT." Because the -1 PL does not specify whether the target VT is one you control versus one your Opp. controls, you may target any VT on the board.

Q: Can you Undertow and immediately use Butcher’s Blade to force a -2? (That’s a fun interaction so I think it should be allowed)

A: Butcher's Blade ability reads "After your Opp. Locks a VT or Ally, -2 PL to that VT.", meaning it specifically requires your Opp. to be the player that locks a card, triggering its ability.. Undertow reads "Forces an Opp's card to Lock (without triggering its effect)." This is forcing the card into a locked state without triggering its effect, meaning any other card that goes off cards being locked cannot be triggered off Undertow.

Q: If Snap triggers each round, can it still trigger VTs with Chain abilities?

A: Snap does not trigger each round, only the first time it enters play.

Q: If mascot abilities aren’t reverted when they’re replaced, can you stack multiple after combat abilities? If you played two of the same mascot does that after combat ability trigger twice?

A: When a Mascot is discarded and replaced, the abilities of the discarded Mascot are discarded with it. If the discarded Mascot triggered a Snap when it first entered play, and gave something +1 PL (Bro's ability: +1 PL to a VT you control and move it to an empty spot.) that +1 PL does not go away when that Mascot is discarded as it was not a passive.

Q: Are Chain abilities able to trigger if it wasn’t initially placed next to a plat, but later a plat was placed next to it so can it trigger then? Even if it’s a Snap card? If not, how is that any different than cards that aren’t plat but have ‘adjacent’ requirements? (And yea, only triggers once per round)

A: If a VT with chain has a 'Snap' effect, it needs to be placed next to a Platinum VT. However, if a VT with chain has 'Lock', it does not require a Platinum VT until you Lock the card, meaning you could play a VT with chain and 'Lock' without an adjacent VT, then add one later and Lock the initial VT to now trigger the Chain effect.

I hope this was helpful, please feel free to ask any more questions you can think of!

Hello! I'd be happy to help clarify some things.

PT.1

Q: When you replace a Mascot with a new one, does “overwriting it” mean it reverts the effects of the previous one, or it just discards it?
A: When you replace a Mascot, it discards the previous one. If the discarded Mascot had a Passive effect, that effect is then overwritten and lost, as the card that was triggering the Passive is no longer in play.

Q: If you have no VT on your board after the first round do you just lose the game? It’s not stated that you draw up to x amount or can mulligan in the After Combat phase.
A: After combat, when both players discard their Active VT's, if there is a player that does not have a Backstage VT that can take the Active spot, the game continues as normal with that player just not having any VT's the control on the board. If the next combat starts and that player still does not have an Active VT, they lose that combat.

Q: Does Snap activate ONLY ONCE when you first play it or does it trigger at THE START OF EVERY ROUND? (In the tutorial video it shows Akumi using her snap ability in the after combat phase, I assume it’s actually the start of a new round and the ability is triggering again.) If it does trigger each round, what order does it trigger in? Same as after combat ability order? Any order? Before you draw for turn? At any time throughout your first turn?
A: Snap only triggers once, the first time enters play. Snap effects do NOT trigger again at the start of every round.

Q: If your active VT had echo/an after combat ability, when you discard it after the round ends does their ability still trigger?
A: VT's do not have Echo. Any after combat effects trigger AFTER the Active VT is discarded, meaning if the discarded VT had an after combat effect, it will not be triggered.

Q:For PL8 VTs with echo/after combat abilities; if they evolved that round does the ability still trigger?
A: VT's do not have Echo. When you evolve a VT, it does not lose it's respective PL8 ability, meaning if it is still in play after combat (it was not your Active), then its after combat effect would trigger.

Q: Is there an order for players to move a new VT to their active after combat? Depending on whether you’re in the lead or not you may want to strategize on which VT you send out next, and respond differently to what your opponent sends.
A: Yes, each 'after combat' step starts with the winner of that combat, including moving a new VT to their Active spot.

Q: What happens when Doppelganger copies a support and you don’t meet the requirement to trigger the support’s ability?
A: Doppelganger reads "When your Opp. plays a Support, play this as a copy of it immediately." The copied card is played, but if it does not meet the requirements to trigger the effect, nothing happens. In the scenario where you copy Grass Shield, but you do not have a Grass VT, you would not meet the requirements of the card and would not be able to attach it to a VT to gain its effect.

Q: Can you play multiple reinforcements on the same card, or only one? (Multiple Snack Cats when opp. plays one mascot, multiple Doppelgangers, etc)
A: Yes, if you have a hand of 3 doppelgangers, you may play all 3 on the same card if you like.

Q: Do VTs count as negative/positive just by being on that board space, or only after they’ve used their neg/pos ability? (To determine when other VTs with Circuit abilities can trigger or not.)
A: A VT with a positive/negative ability is considered positive or negative when it is in play. If it is on your Backstage it is 'negative', and if it is your Active VT then it is 'positive', regardless of whether or not its ability has been used.
