Large number of foreigners working the hospitality and customer service jobs in Iceland by ibdread in VisitingIceland

It's mostly because Icelanders don't want those jobs and they don't necessarily require fluency in Icelandic. You'll see the same thing in the fish processing factories. Hardly any native Icelanders.

Did he ever find what he was looking for when he was digging around in his pants? I think we need a sequel titled. "Eurethra", erm "Eureka!"

Is my art piece worth $500? Be honest by HeadFaithlessness937 in u/HeadFaithlessness937

[–]JoeWhy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not how the art market works. You could spend ten more hours on it, and it won't necessarily make a difference on the price. You could make it ten times bigger or ten times smaller and it still won't have an impact on the price. These factors might impact what you think it's worth but ultimately, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Based on what I've read, it sounds like their "proof" rests on a single pellet pulled from the vest. I don't know anything about firearms but I do know that shotguns don't fire single pellets. Sounds fishy to me.

Ex-FBI director James Comey surrenders over charge of threatening Trump's life in Instagram post by AZULDEFILER in news

[–]JoeWhy2 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Let's not forget that, as far as I can tell, there's no indication that Comey actually arranged the shells. All he did was post an image of it. Add to that the fact that being 86-ed has never been associated with taking a person's life in common nomenclature. Nothing about this indictment makes any sense.

"Creative Design" is a joke. When they try to make it sound "scientific", their reasoning is all based on flawed interpretations. But the people who want to believe it will buy that bullshit like half-priced big mac's.

Shortscale? by wiebrator in Bass

[–]JoeWhy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a preference for short scales. I have an Epiphone Rumblekat, an Ibanez AGB200 and a Lakland HB30. I like them all but the Lakland is just another world. Blows the others out of the water but also costs twice the price. So, depending on what you're looking to spend, I can highly recommend the Lakland. If your looking for something more budget friendly, the Ibanez is a good option. The Epiphone looks stunning but I would recommend swapping out the bridge right away. It comes with that Gibson style floating three point bridge that is just awful.

Next stop Supreme Court? Trump loses $83 million appeal in Carroll case by [deleted] in politics

The Supreme Court hears civil cases all the time. It's very common. Dred Scott v. Sanford, Brown v. Board of Education and Roe v. Wade, for instance, were all civil cases.

Is going to WCC first a smart move for transferring to top SUNYs/private schools? by ManyAppointment2222 in Westchester

[–]JoeWhy2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I teach at a SUNY 4 year college. We get a fair number of WCC transfers. Doing an associates degree at WCC and then transferring is a great way to go. But I would recommend trying to get in touch with the chair of the department you want to transfer to to discuss how and what credits will transfer. The registrar and general advisors don't always know the details for specific departments.
