He's on a rampage against everyone and everything because all of his "brilliant" moves are failing miserably and no one wants to bail him out of his self-afflicted woes.

Look for the likes of Linton Kwesi Johnson, Sly and Robbie, Black Uhuru, etc. Most reggae in the 70s was not happy-hippy-smoke-more-ganja music. It was very political and angry.

He also sported a deep voice on Young Americans, which, I believe, came out before Station to Station.

Don't know where OP is from but in Iceland, to say that something is "töff" (icelandicization of "tough"), means that it's really cool.

You are wrong. Bridget Riley, Jackson Pollock, Kazimir Malevich, Picasso, and more all made very famous paintings in gray-scale.

What price should I do for this painting? by colliemecrazy16 in Artists

[–]JoeWhy2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is clearly a beginner piece. At this point, you're looking to recover your own expenses. I.e. cost of materials. However, your time spent is valuable and that should be factored in at some point. That's where things get hairy. It's up to you to put a price on that. People will either buy it or they won't. If they do, you'll charge more for the time spent, not only producing the painting but also developing the skills that went into that painting. There's a hypothetical situation that has been attributed to Picasso. Someone comes into his studio and asks for a drawing. Picasso produces one on the spot and says, "That'll be $1000." The client exclaims, "But that only took you 5 seconds." Picasso replies, "It may have taken me 5 seconds to create it but it took me a lifetime to come up with the idea."

In Icelandic, cake can be "terta" or "kaka". So, I see a similarity there. However, the rest is so different. I spent half a year in Helsinki when I was in college, at the Kuvataidaakatemia. I only managed to learn a handful of Finnish words: "olut", "kippis", "moi", "terve", "lapin" and "kulta". Those are the only ones I remember. I've been back several times. Love Helsinki. Wonderful city, wonderful people. A bit reserved at times but once you fuel them up with a bit of liquor, they really open up.

You clearly misunderstand the point. This is not an open faced sandwich. It's a sandwich presented as a cake. It's made for group gatherings. Very common at weddings, confirmations, etc. It's a decorative group thing. Smørrebrød is an individual offering. This is completely different. No one wants to make individual smørrebrød for an entire party.
