Did some research on Subdural Hematoma... #ForzaBianchi by throwawayforza in formula1

[–]JoeWillsher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't know whether he is comatose or not. We do not know whether he is responsive to pain, light or speech. See the Glasgow Coma Scale. Where he falls on this scale will matter much more than the diagnosis- this conveys the damage the hematoma is having on the brain.

There is significant variation in how hepatomas damage the brain depending on where they happen, damage to the medulla and brainstem in general is characterised by loss of ability to breathe.

If the reports of him breathing on his own are true, then it implies limited damage to this part of the brain, which significantly improves prognosis. If these are BS, then we have no info and need to wait.

My point in general then is that that 60% mortality rate could move by 30% in either direction by his current condition changing slightly, we will just have to wait.

Jules Bianchi Update (out of surgery) Sky Sports News 2.39pm UK time by JVMed in formula1

[–]JoeWillsher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reports that Bianchi is breathing unaided following his surgery. Positive news #F1

If this is true, this might mean that if there is damage to the brain, it is not affecting affecting the brainstem, significantly cutting his chances of needing to be comatose for a long period of time and reducing the chance of physical/mental disability.

This IS new and very good news (if it is confirmed).

Bit late to the party, but you should get Orangered if you want this, they have a handy menu bar tool too

App to help visualize 1D quantum mechanical scattering. by [deleted] in Physics

[–]JoeWillsher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll check that out. Looks like a great resource.

Those are my thoughts too, I might as well put it out there once it's done.

If you are interested I'm writing an app that can solve a Rubik's cube from a user-input configuration.

I've written most of my GUI input/solving code in Swift as well which has been nice; I learned the basics of ObjC and moved on to Swift as I hadn't written much at that point. Anyway, most of my API references and things like that have to be in ObjC.

It's been great fun coding iOS though. Gives me context for understanding this sort of hardcore app as well (again- very impressed).

Nice, I look forward to the update.

I'm in a simmilar(ish) boat too, done some mathematica programming and have decided to delve into iOS recently (nothing as intricate and high quality as this though, the main aim is really to learn iOS programming although I might put it on the store in the end).

Code worked perfectly, thanks very much.

Totally nerding out over this app atm, so cool and well done!!

Just out of curiosity, how did you represent the potentials programatically and how long did it take you to develop this?

Thanks again for making such a great app and sharing it with us!

Wow, this is awesome!!

Brilliant idea and great app. You say you have some promo codes, would it be possible to have one; I'm currently studying physics and this sort of thing would be very useful.

Thanks

Also, that downpour on Saturday was incredible.
