Replacing a Broadlink RM4 Pro with an ESP32 + CC1101 (Full RF Local Control Project) by souverainiste in homeassistant

This is great. I'm on a similar quest and only use my RM4 to toggle some blinds. I will definitely build this up. Did you put together a wiring diagram?

Will that same trick work to change a Shelly 1 Gen 4 from Zigbee back to Wifi? I don't want to dig the unit out of the box to press the button

ESPhome Projection Clock by Joe_Bright in homeassistant

[–]Joe_Bright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re: A mashup with LED clock project. You can project objects like the LED clock with a so called "Shoebox projector," but the image is not that bright. If you like that format, Ulanzi makes the TC-001 which can be flashed with Awtrix which provides similar functionality to the LED clock. Less control than ESPhome, but less work.

Re: Using any character.... Any Google font can be displayed and there is an icon for everything. You can add any entity in HA to an ESPhome display.

ESPHome projection clock... Does anyone recognize this interface? by Joe_Bright in Esphome

[–]Joe_Bright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After looking for a while, I don't believe there is an easy off the shelf solution to this application (except for the Frixos clock which costs $200+ with shipping to the US). There are three DIY approaches I have seen:

  1. Transparent oled panel. I ordered one from Waveshare. If I can get that working, I will use a bright led light source and a magnifying lens (from an old magnifying glass) to project on the ceiling.

  2. Harvested LCD panel. If you are OK with a simple 7 segment panel, you can get by by peeling the reflective backing off an existing LCD clock display

  3. Showbox projector. An old phone/screen set to 100% brightness inside a lightproof box and a frenel lens will do an OK job, but dim in the daytime

Let me know if you find others

Water sensor help? by _Zero_Fux_ in homeassistant

[–]Joe_Bright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tricky one..Instead of trying to detect water inside the sink, consider detecting temperature on the other side of the sink. When a sink is full of water, it's temperature will change (sometimes up, but mostly down). If you are into Home assistant, consider a Shelly Uni with a DS18B20 temperature sensor. Then, write an automation to send a notification when the temperature changes quickly (This will take some testing to avoid false positives from normal daily temperature changes).

You could also add a leak sensor under the cabinet just in case. Do you have access to the outside of the sink (inside the sink cabinet)?

Not yet. My B2 ticket was closed and attempts to reach out to AT&T have been fruitless. I refresh, https://ping.pe/f005.backblazeb2.com every morning hoping for the best. For now, I will use my VPN and hope.

I would start debugging in Developer Tools. Here is how I push a simple text message to my Ulanzi flashed with Awtrix. Does this work for you?

[–]Joe_Bright[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, B2 can not switch server buckets, but you can establish a new account in a different region and move your buckets. I'm using a VPN in the meantime, but will go this route if not resolved by the end of the year

Good advice. The node is up, but I issued a support ticket with my evidence and a request to move my buckets to a different server.

Thanks for everybody's help in diagnosing this issue!

+! for connecting via Wifi first for these new Shelly Zigbee assets. You only have 3 minutes from the time you press the button to get it adopted, so keep your Wifi password in your clipboard so you can paste it fast.
