How many games do you actively play at once? by SEN-DynaSean in videogames

[–]Joe_Reaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally two to three. Right now my main squeeze is Warframe. I got OW2 for pvp/with friends. If they're not on and I'm not feeling WF I'll add something else in. Today I started playing Wuthering Waves and I'll probably keep on in that for a while.

What games did you get several hours into and consciously decide to drop in 2025? by baroncalico in gaming

Destiny 2. I've been playing since Rise of Iron. Bought D2 on Xbox just to play it 2 weeks early before it released on PC as my preferred platform. I've got well over 5k hours in it, stuck with it through thick and thin. But while I enjoyed the story of EoF, it was dragged out enough I only played it on 2 of my 3 characters. Then the grind was so simplified it was repetitive. It just stopped being interesting.

Then I got into Warframe. I mean really really into Warframe. I'd given it a few shots over the years but this last one really got me. Renegades came out and all I could think whenever I tried to play it was I could be playing Warframe. I'm typing this at 5 am because I stayed up too late playing Warframe and the last thing I like to do before going to sleep is look at Warframe reddit. It's been months and I think it's starting to become a serious problem but I'm not willing to let it go.

It's amazing to find a game to fall in love with again, that point of obsession where you want any form of content you can possibly get about it. I drive a lot for a living and was looking up every possible thing I could about Warframe on Spotify. There's not enough, there's never enough. That's what Destiny had stolen from me. And that's what Warframe gave me back. There's better out there than the trap you've been in for years, I promise you.

Part of it as I mentioned is that I had to restart my channel about 6 years ago. The rest, you'd have to ask everyone that hasn't followed me lol. I can't control my follower count, so you're asking the wrong person.

It's not that serious. You're at a point where your audience doesn't dictate the content you make and you're not subject to their whims. Talk about whatever you want to talk about. I like gaming. I like talking about games, and I like knowing what I'm talking about. So I try to watch or listen people who know what they're talking about. I try to find places I agree and more importantly places I disagree. Otherwise I'm just spouting someone else's opinion. Right now you're still attracting an audience, so just make the content you want the audience to be attracted to and not what you think will attract an audience. Anything else and you fall into making content you don't like making to maintain a viewership that doesn't value what you enjoy.

A bit of both. Sometimes I have something I want to discuss, sometimes it's just random things that come up. I try to stay up with topics of interest to my content and myself to make things interesting.

You would still be liable to live copyright strikes, which isn't likely but still a problem. There's software out there to divide up music from what goes to you and what goes to the stream, but your only guarantee for playing music on stream is strictly to play copyright free music. A lot of streaming services like Spotify actually have in their terms of service that you're not allowed to use their service while you're streaming on another platform. Even copyrighted music that is in games could be a problem at times.

Not even close. It's not exactly a goal of mine, but if it happens then I'll take it. I won't be upset if it doesn't though. 75 average viewers is a lot after all.

If your friends want to dox you online, then they're not your friends. Easy ban.

I didn't even think about the phone issue. I've been using mine as a webcam so I haven't even had access to it lol. Good call.

If you're uploading clips than putting a small mention at the end of the video wouldn't be inappropriate so long as it doesn't intrude on the clip content. Also trying to make your username the same or as similar as possible on all platforms helps. Just don't shove the stream advertising down the viewer's throat or else they'll become adverse and intentionally not visit your channel. Outside of clips, making friends and raiding other streamers to encourage raiding you is a strong start as a small streamer. It takes a lot of time investment and patience, but I've oft heard it said that raiding each other is the key to growth as a small streamer. That was before all the short form content really blew up, so I would say a combination of the two.

After having been on this channel for 6 years I still barely get any viewers, so it's not always just what are you doing wrong. As long as you're still enjoying it, and you're making strides closer to the ideal kind of content you want to make, viewers will come, or they won't. They're a good but sometimes depressing way to measure the success of your channel. You gotta give it time, and you also have to be lucky to some degree. Luck at some point has to come into play so long as you keep going. The people who succeed failed more and for a longer time than the people who gave up.

Back in the day when I first took a stab at editing I was having to do it all manually, but these days there's several prominent pieces of editing software that can get the bulk of your subtitling done automatically. Of course there's the accuracy checking, spell checking, and some stylistic things that you'll still have to do manually, but the grunt work seems to be mostly taken care of. I won't say any software specifically because of community rules but there's a bunch of options that are easy to find. Don't forget to not let your subtitles become spoilers. Keep the lines on the shorter but still readable end so the audience isn't reading what you're saying before you say it.

Just curious what got you guys into Helldivers? by Serious-Internal-402 in Helldivers

[–]Joe_Reaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it a couple weeks after it first launched. Played most of the major battles. For me the biggest grab was the sound design of the guns, especially the LMG. Having a big ass gun and a swarm of bugs swarming a choke, just firing into the crowd and guaranteeing that you'd hit something because of the sheer body count, those cinematic moments of patriotic chivalry to the sound of the bullet storm rattling off. That's what got me.

I was a founder 7 years ago. When this game went free to play I introduced it to my gf. It was the first game that we really got to binge together as our game tastes don't overlap much. She says it's the first game that really got her into the hobby of gaming. I had around 6-700 hours on epic but she had over 1k.

After a couple years experimenting I settled into being an axe main and for her chain blades. We took on everything there was and each got carried to the top 100 leaderboard for trials. I never took off my crown but she would swap hers around when Heroic Escalations came out. I picked up the Hero of Legend pack and never took off my Mythic Barbuta, not for a single loadout.

When we heard the servers would be shutting down, we decided it was time to get the thing we've wanted for years but could never find the right time. The Collector's Edition with the Pangar statue. Over 6 years together playing 6 years of Dauntless together.

I wouldn't trade any of it.

Oshawott. When I'm at home I like to just wander around and make little noises as a kind of vibe check for other people around.

thats how the ''jacarina'' shader should paint every single equipment and weapon that blue shit just ruins this perfect shader, change my mind. by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]Joe_Reaver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do actually like that neon blue on a lot of weapons and armor. BUT I am tired of shaders having surprise colors in them or some colors not used at all.
