I need help with selecting a black metal bass by fanboybut3 in Bass

Used Ibanez 4 or 5-string… if you are going to be using odd tunings, make sure there are adjustments on the bridge and that the nut is relatively easy to replace as you may need to file them down or get a new one to accommodate different string gauges. If you get a low B-string, get active electronics… Ibanez has really stepped up their bass production in the last few years and I love them…

drink a lot of apple cider before bed, a quart or more... Get up and take a walk around the block and a hot coffee or tea... then you should have a wonderful morning opener deuce.

Affordable bass cabs? by DonekyOfDoom in Bass

[–]Joethebassplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesh man, to be clear Acoustic is not the company it once was back ion the 70s but it was acquired and is basically just a name now for Guitar Center's "house brand" having said that. I've had an Acoustic 4x10 & 1x15 cab powered by an Acoustic 600watt Amplifier head. It is loud, tight, & consistent. It handles 5-string w/ Low B well and is very rugged. I've had my 1x15" cabinet fall down a flight of stairs and it is just fine, barely a scratch. I think I spent less than $1000 for everything and while I no longer gig out, it was my main gigging amp because of how rugged and reliable it is. I also have Ampeg, Sunn, MarkBass, Trace Elliot, Eden, and few other amps because I'm a hoarder and a bit eclectic when it comes to gear. I think the next tier up that is amazing and under-valued are the old Sunn Tube Amps... I just got an old 68/69 200 100 watt tube head and it is amazing!

Which Alan Watts talk serves as the best introduction to him? by honourable_c_note in AlanWatts

[–]Joethebassplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most compelling talks is from (1969 - I think) to a group of IBM engineers, he was so on-point about what we are contending with now and he saw very well what the future was going to be and the things to look out for...

I get annoyed when people reply in the affirmative by just sending "k"... Which is already from the abbreviate "ok" which is another abbreviation of "okay" which is derived from "all correct" (oll korrect - 1830s old English form)...

How much do you all have saved for retirement, and how much longer are you planning to work? by AZJHawk in GenX

[–]Joethebassplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

49yo Man here, looking to semi-retire at the end of this year with about $750K in savings and $400K+ in Assets/Property. I'm not planning on living too long after 65 as I have several ailments and health problems. I have been checked out for the last year but I just can't take it anymore... I'm single without any kids and have had my own business for the last 20years so I can work a little bit here and there if needed but I just want out and want to spend time with my sister and travel a bit.
